I personally don't see room for improvement. If it ain't broke...
One suggestion: You are randomly awarded cash prizes by downloading maps....

I'd be skint, in that case. One almost a beta now, don't worry, I do map, honest.

How about adding a few more Half-Life 1 modifications to the list? Not
much can be done to that page (that I can think of anyway) because from
what I see its pretty much perfect.

On the Games-list, place Half-Life 2 after Half-Life instead of underneath Unreal and Call of Duty. This is important s**t!
Other than that, why do thumbnails only show up on some maps and not on others? Why do thumbnails by the side of the big picture only show up on some map? How about a credits field up there by author, status etc? Never mind.

Because some maps don't have thumbnails as the author has chosen to link to images hosted elsewhere.

The only thing I can really think of is to have the download link up with the rest of the info (but that's just my personal preference for aesthetics). Rest of it is fine as it is.
Also, not entirely related...but kinda. What if a mapper had created a set of textures and wanted to share that? Would it be at all possible to have a 'textures' category?
The reason I ask is because I was thinking of adding the dm_osiris textures to my profile somehow last night.

I don't know why, but the page seems incredibly sparse to me... Too much black space. It looks like it wants to be modular, but the individual modules aren't partitioned off, so it's hard to see where one "area" ends and another begins.
Perhaps you could make some of the green bars delimiting off the various sections, with appropriate headers (by green bars, I mean the types of things apparent in the forums that house the name and relative post-time). I think that would make the layout a bit more logical/easier to read.
As in, have one section for images, one for map details, one for authors comments, one for revies/user comments, but just have them more segmented off.

I agree with monqui. Content wise the page is fine, but its layout isn't particularly pretty and it seems confused. Sectioning things off, and with visual breaks such as green lines, would improve things I reckon.

Agreed. The thumbnails seem to be just floating somewhere in the distance

It would also be nice if it only showed maps for the category you chose!
When I pick Halflife 2, it also shows a lot of maps for Halflife 1, and Counter Strike: Source.

It doesn't show HL1 maps, the ones with the icon with a 1 on them are
HL2 single player maps (the 1 representing 1 player). It shows CS:S
maps because they are made in the HL2 engine. You can choose a mod on
the left bar after you have chosen which engine.

I'd like to see a similar thing to the News page. A kind of design diary that you can update, and anyone watching the process (the thing hat PM's you when its updated) can get sent PMs saying somethings happened. Maybe also on the front page have the ability to have a "latest design diary additions" bit, like latest maps. That way it keeps people updated on updated maps. Also the ability on this news thing to upload pictures with the post, that way you can upload say a pic thats inspired the design, or some comparison picture or something.
