Try anchoring the top of the ropes to an origin brush. when there is no origin brush attached to some entities they default to the origin of the map. IIt seems like this is what is happeneing here. Experiemnt around with placement of origin brushes and see if they can help you. (you know an origin brush is a brush covered in the "origin" texture) I'm sure u knew that but just in case...

Looking over at the other thread shows your question was answered over a week ago there. Ropes don't work in CS:S.
