DVD Codecs and Decoders

I'm looking for suggestions for a GOOD
software DVD player that supports DTS. I've searched for awhile on
Free Codecs, but it was to no avail. I thought I'd take suggestions
from personal experience.

I've been using Media Player
Classic, but that doesn't support certain lower audio channels
and now it likes to display a inverted miniaturized picture replicate
of the original image in the upper left hand corner.

I've got
Intervideo WinDVD 4 as well, but, apparently, it doesn't support DTS
(in the copy I have).

I've thought about using SP-DIF, but
the physical SP-DIF jacks are analog or fiber optic, which is fine, I
do have connectors for that, BUT it only supports 2 channel audio.

The S-Bracket itself seems to
uncompatable with every piece of audio equipment ever. The 'six
channel input' on most all receivers has RCA jacks while the
S-Bracket uses ? jacks.

I think it'd be easier to go with
the software end of things.

All suggestions are welcome. Even
a better codec for MPClassic would be welcome. (I think I've got ACE3
or something)

I don't know, I use "ASUSTek 2000 DVD" Which is basically a rebranded
PowerDVD (but the best version I've come across so far. Haven't seen a
format that it wouldn't play, and I've got a lot of different discs.

And in personal experience I've found MPClassic to be junk, it's never
played any format it claims to for me, maybe it'll get the sound or the
image, but never quite right..even with the full codec packs. I usually
go with Media Player 10 and the K-Lite codec pack and with that I've
been able to view any video format.

Well, It plays every format ever. I have the codecs for all formats
(pretty much). I haven't run accross anything that I can't run with it.
It's just lacking in some areas.

I downloaded some "ultimate" codec pack off of Free Codecs and it installed them for use in any player that detects new codecs.

But I hate the new media players. They're needlessly flashy. Not
tomention one of the MPC shining features is resources. It takes almost
none.

Anyway, thanks. I believe Asus Tek is just a standard DVD player that probably came with an Asus drive or board.

I've got an MSI DVD disc lying around, I might try it if I get desperate enough.

at the moment, i cannot recall the rest, since these two have always served me best. DIVX.com i think was one, but as i said, i do not remember.

Bsplayer plays DVD's too. Never had problems with it.

I also hate new media players. They all want to find licenses and buy you music for you and give you all the news on your favorite pop stars. Just play the damn file when i open it!!! And REAL player is a joke, a poorly executed, adware joke. I actually use PowerDVD or WMP for DVD's That's always god enough. Try downloading WinDVD and DVDGenie the genie gives a lot more features.

I have WinDVD. My version doesn't support DTS :sad: (one of the defining factors in my decision)

I have a look for DVDGenie.

Also, guys, I'm not looking for something that just plays a DVD and
that's that. It needs to support DTS decoding and all bass channels. So
far, WMPC has the first, but not the second (and that annoying ass
replication issue).

Keep them coming, guys.
