Think about all the FPS's you've played. How many of those have had some kind of re-animated enemy in it?

Doom - zombies from hell

Wolfenstein - Nazi zombies

Half life - head hugger zombies

Halo - pop corn zombies

Far Cry - zombie-monkey-super-human

Apart from Half life and Doom most of these games follow the same zombie format: fight some kind of armed human foe untill you reach a half-way point, then all armed foes are replaced by zombies. Then those slow dumb zombies are replaced with zombies with guns. Then if there is enough time, super zombies with guns and rockets.

I'm not diss'in zombies or zombie games, but what is with our love of hateing zombies? I have to say when Far Cry switched gears I was shocked. The zombie monkeys just crushed a great game for me.

On the other hand I love the zombies in Half life and Halo, becuase they were a strong piller that held the plot. In Halo all the drama that led up to the zombies really made the game stronger.

Wolfenstein was just plain Nazi's, unless you're calling RtCW Wolfenstein... but yeah, zombies are fun to kill because some people like to blame video games for violence, so if you're not killing humans, it's somehow less "bad."

I just think some one needs to mix it up a little, like a zombie-IRS-agent-robot-with-ham-4-wheels

who wouldn't want to kill that?

Wolfenstein's second episode was mostly zombies, IIRC. I don't
remember the if the other episodes had zombies or not, though.

I never really got into Wolfenstein, but I seem to remeber the first one had some kind of super human type thing near the end.

Its had to think of many FPS where the enemy didn't end up as a zombie or a super human or a robot in the end...
