That sounds...Odd, seeing how I have a Radeon 9600XT and I get about the same FPS.

Go to "start" menue and click on "run". Type in "DXDiag". Then click on the "Network" tab and click on "test direct play". After the test is done list any errors you get. Your video card might not be the problem.

this is the second time you posted this topic.
and i still say its the bios.
the 800 also has an external power source, if you have never owned a card like it, you may not realize it has to have one.
i suggest you read up on "installation"

What's even odder is that the HL2 console
often displays that i have 1 CPU at...5600 MHZ (I actually have
1800MHz, nothing more) !!

You test all the video stuff in DXdiag? You have to click "test" you know... But yer try that external power source bit, check bios and make the AGP aparture size the same as the ammount of RAM on the card itself. Also post the motherboard you have (don't say "some Asus one", we need numbers and s**t).

Reformat, if that doesn't work get it repaired by a professional, if that dont work send your graphics card back to be tested, and RAM, and processor, and motherboard, if that doesn't work, erm tough luck!
That should do it!

Whats your processor? Because your vid card is only as fast as your processor.
Try playing other games like doom 3. If doom 3 works (or anyother game) then its HL2 thats having he problem.
Run dxdiag, see if there is any problems with your drivers.
Post this at steampowered.com and say VALVE PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!
(because no one from valve is here) and maybe someone over there will
help you find the answer.
