I don't appreciate any sort of system which
looks to limit the usage of the site for new members. Problems are rare
and dealt with fairly on a case by case basis, and I see no reason to
depart from this system.
The system I've got going now does that- whacking a daily post
limit on certain annoying members- and coupled with wanton topic
deletion (along with a PM to notify you) I think everything's under
control without going too far
I think when a i first tried out the general banter forums. a month after i got here i got one of those pm's. The first day
in fact , i was feeling really good that morning and started a post
"GOOD MORNING WORLD" , Im not sure if lep felt the same ;P. I learned
not to post useless stuff scince ^_^.

edit: i found it ! http://www.snarkpit.com/forums.php?forum=1&topic=1646&highlight=GOOD,MORNING

On a similar topic, SomethingAwful have had a go at the HL2World forums and all the n00bs there
I don't think they're n00bs, I think they're just plain stupid.
If not, then they must be n00bs who evolved into something the human
mind cannot conceive.

I dont like the screening system, if we filtered out all the n00bs, the word n00b will never exsits at snark pit thus

all the good people but slightly bad at making maps would be called n00bs, and then that would be dumb

Noob almost has a real definition. Anybody who is either , A flamer
with nothing to back himself up with , A person who spams , A person
who puts 5 minutes with no effort into a map & THEN releases it. As
its one thing to make it but to release it is just horrendous & one
who evilly critques somebody when he cant do much better

how about a filter that checks all submitted map names for "fun" "box"
or "kill" and automatically rejects them, but gives the submitter a 404
error

I think the best way to limit the useless crap that some people will
put on this web site is to give members who 'give a damn' about the
site the power to 'flag' members, posts, or maps that have no purpose.

Perhaps any member with 500/1000/2000 somthing' snark marks gets a
button to set a flag on the item that is detracting from the
site. Then the person who is responcible for said item will get a
friendly little pop up saying that "## of people flagged this post"

Then once some one got a high enough flag to post ratio they would be alerted to the admin.

It would kind of be like the warn feture on AIM.
