i remember that there were a command in the console that can show u the name of the texture that u are pointing at(but for HL1....and i don't remember the command name).....i'd like to know if this command exist for hl2 too.......

I read through the SDK Documentation and it didn't say anything of such a command.

Its one of the "impulse" commands I believe - try typing "help impulse"
in the console, as I've heard that doing so gives you a list of what
each impulse command does.

impulse 107 gives you the texture you are looking at, impulse 106 gives
you the phisics models (and dynamics) the name of the model.

surfaceprop is also sometimes useful for similar purposes.
