A story thread is a construct created by the forum members by stringing together random, or not so random posts to create a story when all are read together.

The thread is given a set of rules, such as "You may only post after someone else has" or "you cannot post more frequently than once per hour" or "you may use as many words as you wish or as few as 1"

Story threads tend to meander a bit, but if the participants are cooperative, it can be entertaining.

Story threads only really fail if the members do not enjoy themselves while making one.

Anyways, thats a story thread in a nutshell.

I voted Yea since I see no harm in it, but I am always disappointed by these threads. Usually just when they start to get interesting someone says something like: "And teh protagonist began lickin' teh monkies ballz" when there was no monkey in the thread to begin with, and the protagonist had already had their tongue cut out in a previous post!
Some people are like slinkys...

They aren?t really good for anything, but you can't help but laugh when one tumbles down the stairs.

Then a clause should be added that if you lead the thread astray deliberately in an effort to sabotage it, then you may no longer participate.. enforcing that will be up to the rest of the members to ignore any post afterward and continuing onward. I am sure an admin would be happy to dissuade anyone from being to disruptive by say.... spamming the story thread.

Sound good?

A little bit of sabatoge keeps the story interesting  Though TB is right in how it can't have any "sudden nuclear explosions" and so on. And when I say "a little bit" I mean slight as in it's not really destroying the story -- but something maybe people didn't expect.

..And no being completely stupid or imature in an attempt to destroy the thread :dorky:

Grey writing is what we use when not in story ain't it?

[Edit] Just read above lol, I think nuclear explosions are good! Maybe some old descriptive pr0n scene written by Orph, ending in his pleasurable act of going for a pee

Soz just had to say it

Seems pretty obvious which way the poll is going. But I feel it unfair
that Leperous should have to monitor a thread of meaningless tripe and
edit out sabotuers.

So I propose that, to minimize the derailment cause by such f**ktards,
the story stops untill it is dealt with (or all participants step over
it without paying it attention. Also, said idiots should be send into
coventry (not the city) forever more.

Also, it should go without saying but "THE END." or "I KILLED THE STORY!!111" are quite obvious acts of sabotage.

No one is asking him to. In fact some derailment is inevitable. What I am referring to is if someone completely breaks it to useless gibberish and then gets abusive by spamming it. Then some admin step in and settle the matter.

I will begin the thread in a bit since its more/less a "yes" thing.
