When running the map the 'blend' texture i used (mud/grass) just shows as mud. I get this error in compile log

ive had this problem before once!

i think it is related to leaks, see if you have any
the only problem with steam updating things every week is it doesent give the developers an incentive to playtest thier work, so we do it for them

Post your full compile log, there may be another problem causing the texture not to be alpha painted and no detail props placed in game.

use gcfscape to open sourcesdk.gcf, and look in the game_content/half-life 2/hl2 folder. you should see a file named detail.vbsp. extract this file to your cstrike folder, and all the $detailtypes from hl2 will work in cs as well.

or you can safely ignore the message with no danger of any problems.

@fishy - i did what you said and yes the errors stopped and there is the random grass patches. But the alpha painting still doesn't show in-game

It may be that you're running a fast compile. With a fast compile, the painting and all that jazz doesn't show.

Are you sure French Toast? I don't see any reason why a fast compile
wouldn't take into account the alpha painting - it shouldn't, as far as
I can tell, have anything to do with the compile process. I may well be
wrong, but it just doesn't sound likely to me.

i don't think i've ever run anything other than fast compiles, and i've never had a problem with alpha painting. i don't get leaks very often, but i know that i've had one with hl2 because i remember the surface of some water didn't get rendered because of it. the alpha painting below the water was fine though, which, for me anyway, would rule out leaks or fast compiles being the cause.
