This is my first model without
a tutorial. Hope you guys like it. Its a towel hanger that I modeled
based off of the one in my bathroom. The real one is brass, but I give
you chrome and 24 Karat gold. Enjoy!

More photons would reduce the blotchyness, and reducing the bias should remove those white outlines where it meets the wall. Consider just using an area light without final gather so that you don't have to bother with rendering glitches/final gather times.

Also bevel the part cut out for the loop to go through, you're missing an important highlight.

My render times were not that bad. About 1 and 1/2 mins. As for the
lighting, its all new to me. I will give what you said a go when I get
more time. Thanks for the small critique.

Depending on your intentions, I'd say focus less on the lighting and
rendering, and more on the actual mesh and its efficiency / detail
balance. Are you wanting to do modelling for level / game design
purposes, or just for modelling's sake? Far too many poly's (if there
are polys at all?) for current game purposes, but its a very polished
(haha, get it!) first effort so good one

Yeah! I'm stuck right now trying to think of things to model that
aren't really hard, but are original (as in not in every mod and
such). Very pretty Sephiroth

I get the same kind of blochiness on the chrome in my models, but
talking about photons doesn't help me at all  I'm still realy
out in the open, I don't use any lights at all. Anyone know a
tutorial that just talks about the basics of lighting? I've been
unsuccessful in my search.

Nice first non-tut model  Keep up the good work.

Well for right now I am getting modeling down. Later on when I get a
little better, I will start to work on models that could be used
in-game. Thank you all for the positivity.

And thanks french toast. Good luck with your modeling woes!

If you need something to model toast, I could use a shower head with knobs that are used to turn water on. I've been trying to get into modeling, but i can make a box and screw around with the faces and vertexes and that about it.
