I'm trying to find out what key of harmonica I would need to play the tunes played by 'harmonica' in the film 'once upon a time in the west'. If you want to hear it, search your err... online CD retailer  for 'man with the harmonica'. You probablt think it sounds crap but I like it. I can see this thread getting zero replies but it was worth a go.

the song, sounds great, the first 50 times its played during the movie, after that, its .. ___________FLATLINE_________
i remember very little about my music lessons at school, but i seem to recall f-flat for that part..
ask doc brasso, he is our local music appreciation choice for home made stuff

I'm interested in learning the pan pipes, so let me know if you get anywhere in terms of finding 'tabs' and the like for alternative instruments

Wow, thanks for all the responses guys. Orph I don't mean I just want to sit and play that same thing over and over, I was just thinking that if I get a harmonica, then it would be nice to get one where it would be possible to play that particular tune... but not if there are no other tunes in this key.
Doc Brasso, thanks for the offer, I don't think you will like it but I've PM'd you.

Actually f-flat is possible and it isn't uncommon...in piano music at least. 'f-flat' = 'e', but I'd be damned if I knew why they didn't just write 'e' in the first place.

...and im assuming theyd be different versions at least in one or two cases....
Doc Brass.. :dodgy:
btw....theory 101
"every note in sheet music has a sharp or a flat....it is infered, therefore, that for continuity within the musical octave, said note however lodged in the octave, will have a 1/2 step above as sharp, or 1/2 step below as flat, slangs not-with-standing...these differences pertain to relative tuning, in all forms...." Bourness Theory
techincal, but wordy....
basicly what is saying is that pitchbends and 1/4 pitch changes and the like are not considered as standard notables "with exceptions"....just so ya know where yer at, no matter what "key" you are in.....relative. so 1/2 step up is sharp 1/2 step down is flat, no matter where yer at, and all other words expressing this are not "official".....lolol.....fun wasnt it?....
.....ask me why i just like to jam.... :heee:
