Hey all, first off go to this link. Once there scroll down till you get to a subject titled "Mind control and memory replacement."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Combine_%28Half-Life_2%29

Now if you read this, it says that you see the model in the picture to the right in episode one in the citidel. Now I was so excited to see something that I missed that I went through all the citidel levels tring to find it. I even noclipped all the levels just to make sure. But alas I saw no missed room or this model there.

Now what Im asking you guys is if this is in the game at all or is it just in the model folder? Is it possible that this auther just saw this model in episode one's files and assumed that it was in the game?

I hope that he is indeed right cuz I'd love to see that model in action in the game. I would be wierd of them to make the model and not use it.
Yes I spell bad, but remimber Mighty are the stupid.

I dont remember it being in there. It wouldnt be the first time they made a model they didnt use, HL1 had about 5 or so. Funny how most HL mods which extended the story used the toad for something (Poke646 and Azure Sheep come to mind).

I don't know if i remember seeing it in the models folder or if I saw it in-game, but I don't recall seeing any unused models in the folder either.

I loved the unused ones in HL1... The orange-clad mainenance guy looks just like my friend nick.
I tried sniffing coke, but the ice cubes kept getting stuck in my nose.

It's funny, I'm dealing with similar issues now that I'm a game programmer. We want our mobile games to be as small as possible, so every unused content needs to be stripped out. Which isn't as easy as it looks, since not every font or image is still being used by the end of a project... luckily, with less than 25 images, it's still a manageable task, but things the size of HL or HL2... I find it amazing there's so few unused models...

I remember it. I'm pretty sure I saw it before (could be the wiki article tbh).

This reminds me of the "power on" level in HL1. I could have sworn the "power on" levels (introduction of gargantula) came after "on a rail". But any source I checked says it is (and has always been) the other way round.

Man I want to see that model in action! I found the sounds that go with it, they are these messed up male and female voices. They seamlessly go from really fast sounding to reversed. It reminds me of that room in the movie "the island" were they have the guy on the little screens saying "you are special, you want to go to the island."

If you checked the game you'd see that the sources are correct. Don't you remember turning on the power to the train tracks and then luring the Gargantua to that room where it gets electrocuted so you can get to the train?
Blame it on Microsoft, God does.

Yea I'm convinced now. It's just like one of these mind tricks where you know that you're wrong but still feel confused.

More like 50 dude, there was the bat, the toad, some fish, some other aliens, Mr Friendly, a few other characters, some weapons, loads! HL2 had so many they cut them from the final release. The alpha actually had shed loads, but unfortunately the HL2 model format of the alpha is not compatible with the final HL2 release.
