Well not exactly but when I attempt to select a model for say a prop_physics in the box where it normally displays models it says no mdl files. Normally there is a path like C:\ Program Files...etc; but there is not one present. When I attempt to enter one manually Hammer exits with no error message. It seems that this has happened before. I am not aware of any action I took to get it back

Might be because of a SDK update or such, these aren't known for their reliability sadly. Anyway, you made sure you selected the right game in the SDK menu before starting Hammer? I can't think of much else at the moment...

Negative. It is not because of the update. I have encountered this problem a few months back. It is most definately not due to an 'update'. I also checked the other point that you made.

A Steam restart maybe? Sounds like a temporal error, especially if you haven't change anything. Then there's not much you could change "back", too.

Okay I need some help. The bit where it says "full path" in the model browser; what does it say? Because on my one it doesn't have anything there.

Anyways, the Full Path is blank until you click on something. I clicked on the Advisor model and then the full path comes up as:

c:\program files\valve\steam\steamapps\USERNAME\sourcesdk\hl2\models\advisor.mdl

What do you need the full path for anyways?

Oh right well, let's just say "that's weird". Because with this bug when I click on something in the model browser nothing happens whereas before it worked normally. I dunno really were to go from here, I've tried reinstalling the S.D.K.-nothing. I've tried "verify integraty of local game cache" still nothing. I've tried "Reset game configurations" still nothing.

But is it really that important?
Just double click the model (I think..) or select it and hit 'Okay'. Then if you really need the path it will come up in the world model box thingy in the object properties.

Or if I'm still misunderstanding you, I know there's a list of models floating around somewhere..

No you see it's not the model path that is important. I was just wondering if that had anything to do with my real issue: Being unable to select any models. If I want to choose a model for a prop I have to go into model viewer and choose the model that I want and then copy the path for that model and then go back into hammer and select the prop entity and then enter the pathname for the model I want. As I said nothing happens when I click on a folder in the model browser. It does however, acknowledge that all of the models are present on the bit where it counts the number of models.

Maybe your VGUI model browser is messed up. Try the other one.

Tools>Options>General>Enable VGUI.. something.. make sure it's checked off.
It works for HL2 and HL2:DM.. but all the Counterstrike model pictures just say MDL.

If that is wrong let me know, I don't have Steam open because it was using up all of my resources.

Totally awesome dude! I didn't know I could disable that model viewer and revert back to the basic one!!! Now I can really get on  Thanks for the persistent replies...you've really saved me alot of time! EDIT: What's more is by disabling and re enabling it, it now works normally again! I'll keep that in mind when this happens again

And all this correspondence was lost, because the asswipe didn't post it in editing.
