Ownership is irrelevent (or gaurenteed depending on your perspective) when you are the only one on the planet (or moon) .

Seriously though, this is about science, not nationalism. That is why we sent a robot instead of men. The world is devided by politics and religion, but united by science. look at ITER and the ISS, two shining examples of international cooperation. both of them have encountered stumbling blocks along the way, but every one has been political in nature. we should just be happy that one of the three landers made it and leave it at that, without reference to the nationality of said lander.

Yeah, there was a rumour Stanley Kubrick was hired to film the whole thing ...

I don't believe it ... scientists have been able to take pictures of the American Flag planted on the moon, using giant telescopes, I think.
Astronauts have left several mirrors behind on a few of the moon landings, which scientists later could use to determine the distance of the moon from Earth via lasers.

Mine was slightly tongue in cheek Brass, although I don't believe the moon landings were real - can't be arsed to debate/dont want to debate that point anyhow, it's been done before
Gwil, can I throw you a frikkin' bone here, and ask you how faked photos prove we didn't go the moon- surely that could also just mean the photos they actually took turned out s**te and they made some new ones up back on Earth..?

Anyway, pretty much all of the 'anomalies' can be explained (which, strangely, people tend not to hear about  )- stars aren't bright enough to turn up in the photos, strange lighting caused by light reflecting off the moon's surface, different direction shadows caused by slopes which you can't make out in the photos, etc... Plus it's my dream to go to Mars one day, so I'll give you a shout if I do

Such as it is, all we can do is trust the government. It's not wise for us to trust people who pick apart photos over our own government(s).

[EDIT] Next time we go to the moon, we're probably going to videotape a game of basketball in 1/6 gravity and release it with the title 'White Men Can Jump'.[/EDIT]
