I spent all day trying to make textures when I should have been studying. The only one I have to show for it is this:

(All the others were pretty bad lookin'.)
Cass: It actualy looks pretty good with that TFC tex you showed me.

damn nice lookin dirt there skeletor.....kinda looks like my backyard in spots.....seems the big question tho will be:

Anyway, I suppose I will post this one also, even though I don't like it as much as the first (and it doesn't seem to fit well with any other textures)...

I would recommend actually painting the textures / learning how. That way you get used to painting with Photoshop and learn more functionality and can apply it to things other than textures. Though I suppose if you want quick results, direct photo reference is the way to go.
