Ok, so he's not exactly involved with Half-life or Half-Life 2 (though
talks a little about HL2), but he's very tallented and knows what he's
talking about. And very interesting to listen to.

I suggest everyone read this: http://www.cliffyb.com/art-sci-ld.html

and listen to this: http://www.cliffyb.com/did.mp3

The former being Cliff's tips and outlook on leveldesign (how
appropriate for this place). Not overly in depth, or recent, but still
good information. The latter is a little long (about an hour), but it
goes by quickly and is pretty fun to listen to. It's his speech from
GDC 2005 (game developers confrence). I've listened to it a few times.

Good find bro; I quite enjoyed that lecture. Lots of good insights and opinions on gaming in general.

If it isnt mentioned, CliffyB worked on Unreal/Unreal Tournament - where he designed some of the best levels. Turbine, anyone?!

Not surprised he's moved onto a bigger pitch, he was always well read on planetunreal/cliffyb page (?).

yeah, you're right, i probably should have mentioned his rather heavy
influence on the Unreal series... I still havn't finished Unreal. I've
played through up to a certain point at least two or three times.

Everywhere I look I can't ever find a copy of the original Unreal (the
only one that really interests my in the whole serie, Unreal II was
rather boring compared to what I remember of it)...

Anyway, that article looks familiar but the lecture doesn't. I'll give it a go, it sounds interesting.

I got a free copy of it with a game mag a couple of years ago. It's
pretty good for such an old game, but doesn't really touch HL.

I've been a fan of Cliffy B for a while, his page is called Cliffy B's
Ownage at http://www.planetunreal.com/cliffyb/ , I'd recommend checking
it out for some fantastic community made UT maps. The man has got the
skills, or should I say skillz  .

Those 3D-bonus levels looked a bit silly. Something with racing and eating carrots.

Otherwise, brilliant game. Spent hours playing it with my brother. (I do the running and jumping, he's doing the shooting. Not the perfect way to play, but it was sooo fun.)
