Hello! I have worked on my ns map for two days now, but cant seam to run it.
I have gone through several tutorials, to make sure that everything is setup
right, and i know that i have placed all the enity's needed to run it.

Either the program dont create my .bsp file at all, ore i get a fatal error, saying
that it "Couldn't open Steama.wad" ! This file is not on my computer at all, and
i have sertainly not asked the program to use it.
(Im useing Hammer v3.5 with the newest ZHLT tools.)

I have searched on the nett for this file to, and got 0 resault!

I hope dearly that someone in here can help me, and I will paste my Compile
Process logg incase that could help you:

Strange indeed. Well I recomend that you check your wad list in hammer
(I assume you know how to do this), and see if the steama.wad is in
there. If thats not the case then I recomend you use gfc scape and
search for it manually.

If none of the above works then I recomend you remove every wad from the hammer list, and only add the ones you need.

Also try the "-wadinclude steama.wad" parameter and see if that works.

I have checked the wadlist many times, and the wad file is not there.
As i said earlyer, i have no such file on my computer what so ever.
So I tryed to make a map, where i used only ONE texture, just to see if any wad files were damaged ore something, but still same message.
I just cant figure this one out! =/

Did you copy it exectly from the compiling log or did ypu rewrite this? If you copied this then this directories are mistyped. First, is your program files directory called programfiler? Mine isn't misspelled and has a space between the words.

You have double back slashes before the map's name. And isn't it sepposed to write in the HLbsp command line ns_test.bsp?

Check if you mistyped something in hammer's configurations and compiling window, if you use expert compiling mode.(in normal you don't need to write almost anything anyway)

Apart from these little directory errors and the wads(which you said they aren't listed in the wad list) I don't see anything wrong with the compile log.

Well, thats another thing thats strange, cause i didnt thing is should be ..\\ns_test either, but the point is that i havent typed the adresses, i have used the "browse" function, so it should be correct!
(and no, i dont got any folder between c: and "programfiler," that is the correct adress =) =P

And yes, it is supos to be .bsp, but the program woant make the .bsp file.
I have checked the config a hundred times, cant find anything wrong =/

So, the puzzle still remaines unsolved! =P
I appreciate you that you guys are trying to help me though, thanks =) =D

This is just a shot in the dark, but maybe it's because you have
20-something WADs selected? Zoner's normally whines if you have more
than 8. For some reason it isn't showing that error.

I would suggest eliminating as many wads as possible, i.e. keeping only
the ones selected in the "textures" window that you are actually using,
because when the map does compile the game'll expect ALL of those wads
to be in the player's folder. If they're not, they can't play.

Post in hammer's configurations! By that I mean every thing in there but views configurations and general.

So you have both programfiler and program files. ok that solves this problem.

Edit:
I found it! (well maybe) And again it's a directory problem.

'** Parameters: "D:\Spill\NsMaps\ns_test\ns_test.map"'

"Command line: C:\PROGRA~1\ZHLT\hlbsp.exe C:\Programfiler\Steam\SteamApps\saitek60@hotmail.com\half-life\ns\maps\\ns_test"

All the stuff you map with(this includes the games and steam) must be in the same drive. Your maps are in D: while steam is in C:. Move the maps to C:.(this includes the compiling tools, hammer...ect)

I think this may(and there is a big chance it wont) solve your problem.

Ok, here are the configurations:

http://home.no/artimes/Config01.jpg
http://home.no/artimes/Config02.jpg

(And in Run i use the "Normal Mode".. and typed: -game ns -dev -console

I fixed the directory problem, so everything is now on my c: drive, but i
still got the same error =/
Sometimes I get "the map was not found on the server" (cause the program
dont make the .bsp file) ...
.. and other times i get "Fattal error: Couldn't open Steama.wad."
I found the problem with the duble \\ to, but that wasnt the problem either.. it might have braught us one step closer though =)

Been a while but here's what I see.

The compile log is incomplete. It will always say at the end "copy, blah, blah to such and such location" It will like it so much that it will say it twice in fact.

Now, the preceding compile log shows no errors that I can ascertain so it leads me to believe that your pathways are not setup properly.

Lastly, looking at your jpg's leads me to believe that I am indeed correct because your destinations for the RMF and MAP are not the same locations.

as I always say, "SEND EVERYTHING TO MAPS"

try this and get back to me.

Lastly, if you post such overlarge images again, I will not assist you further. Images of those dimensions need be less than 35-40k.

Then I suggest that you either post the complete log, or sort it out yourself. I know that I am on the right track, even if I am wrong on this one.

That earlier compile log is incomplete.

Well, that was the coplete logg, it stoped there for some reason.
anyways, i finaly got it to work! Well, its still strange, cuse i did like u said, pointed all the files to ..\maps, but the finished .bsp file is still made in a total diferent folder, so i have to copy it manually and paste it into the maps folder.
Strange, and inconvenient, but atleast it works!

I still think that all your advices have helped me, so I thank all =) =D Mabye you will see the final result on my profile soon =D =)

Strange indeed. The paths are preset by the author and the destination should be one of your choosing.

Still, as long as it produces a usable bsp, copy/pasting is a small price to pay.

I still feel that I was correct. I wonder where the path is running astray.

Sorry that I didn't log in before

I checked Tommy's Error Tutorial and it says this error that accured to you(hammer uses wads that doesn't exist) might be because there are too many wads in use!

Remove some wads, you have too many many in use. The maximum number of wads is 8, you included 9 wads. Make sure you include in that list only the wads used in that paticular map. Some people include many useless wads like the GFX and Fonts wads that don't even have textures in them.

Next time if you have problems with wads post the wad list, your problem will be solved sooner that way.

EDIT:

Oh... the problem was already solved before...
