I have to start this off at how I hate SOE. I feel they turn to rust all that was gold in MMO's.. I was an original EQ player way back.. I was also on PlanetSide, but LAG issues forced me off that game. I tried Star wars galaxies and that game just sucked. I beta tested both SWG, and PlanetSide.

I hopped on the WOW band wagon, and loved the game ( also beta tested ). but it lost its luster for me pretty quick. WOW seems to have drawn all the asshat players that people complain CounterStrike has.

So I really wanted to hate this game from the start looking at all the faults and trying real hard to not like it. PEGS gave me a link to a free trial of the game, and I was shocked. I liked the game.

When you first join the game you get to make a character, and its really indepth. there are hundreds if not millions of looks you can achieve with the character generator. There are 12 races to choose from, both male and female. There are 20 or so classes. Thats plenty of options.

Most games now a days follow the Dark Ages Online model, and have 3 factions face off.. this game is simple.. it pits good agianst evil.. but what is what is the question, you think you know from the start.. but do you? the Story is pretty indepth as well. If your into that sorta thing there are NPC's all over that give hints and clues to the world your in, and who is evil and who is good.

I like some of the sub mission stuff like the Collections.. if you see a small glowing questionmark on the ground it will be a feather or shell or a rock.. something trival, but if you examine it its part of a collection. Once you have a complete collection you turn it in. And as a reward a LORE item is made from it and given to you.

I love that they took the time to make armor and helmits that fit each of the races head and body styles, instead of just a cookie cutter ones, like in WOW.

yes I will admit there are a couple problems, like why some NPS have speech, and others do not. Some of the fighting at times lags up and you dont see your attacks. but at the same time.. they have a nice system in place. The big Arrow above a target lets you know who is targeted. the colors bars above names clearly mark who you need to worry about and who you can walk past without fear.

There is so much to this game that I encourage you to give the free trial a try and discover the game for yourself.

If you become a EQ2 player, look for PEGs or myself on one of the many servers.. maybe this can be the start of a new SNARK clan or group.

IF you wanna try out the trial the URL to it is:

See, things like this would make me try out MMO's. Demos.

I'm downloading it now ... actually ... I downloaded it about 3 hours ago and installed it and it's been updating for the last 2 and a half hours ... still has another 2 and a half to go. Good thing I have work to do, so I can let it run. But a 5 hour update is just crazy.

Also, not millions of combinations, but certainly hundreds: 12 * 24 * 2 [Races * Classes * Sex] = 576 combinations. 24 classes is a bit crazy.

I'll post back up with what I think when it's done downloading next week.

Yes, but you can change all the facial features, size weight and age of characters, hair color, style etc.. so there are more than just 576 variations.

facing a 6 hour update is not a good start, but fortunately there are some crazy ppl or ppl with enough patience like me and Crono i guess  so i had a go at it yesterday; the concept, character selection and story is nice, but the game itself couldn't captivate me... but maybe that's just me  is WOW similar? in that case i know i dont have to try that either
These words are my diaries screaming out loud

Yes WOW is similure. WOW is great for about 30-40 days at a time then you just have to take a 30-60 day breather. One thing about WOW, is you know them asshat gamers that play CounterStrike, the ones that like to break all the rules, cuss when asked not too, hack, just be a major pain on the server because they can.. WOW has almost all of them as well. Where I found out my first day in EQ2, I was given 10 gold by one player, another grouped with me and took me around and helped me level, and another gave me a spiffy weapon. All for nothing. Something you dont see in WOW very often. I got really bored with WOW..

wait, am i getting this straight, with a high speed internet you have to get a 6 hour update? That's insane, with a 56k modem it would take me like a week to get that update

this is why i don't ever play games online, i hate dial-up

There are jackasses on WoW but there also good people out there too.

I partied with someone yesterday as a lvl 14 priest and they handed me
3 gold to start me off, and others made me some armor. Then I
joined their guild since I figured it would be more fun to party with
generous and mature players.

I try to be as helpful and generous with my time as I can. I figure if I do, others might as well.

The Pryde was formed on that.. but some people got help and didnt give back.. I notice that seems to be the rule of WOW, not the exception.

Yeah that's unfortunately true.

Server lag and excessive unannounced downtimes are pissing me off recently now too.

Hey sorry ive not said anything ive not realy checked the pit in some time...

EQ2 is a VERY addictive game.. ive rescently came off because my pc
just cant handle it and i dont want it to "completly" overheat before
my lan party starts..

There is alot to this game, its not that easily explained either.. its
the sort of thing you have to try out for yourself to find out..

Im not sure what Servers money is playing on.. but a guild kinda thing
would be cool (even though im allready in a realy nice guild and wouldnt
think of leaving)... Im on server "runnyeye" if anyone did try this out
/ pay for it.. but as i said.. i cant play for a wile untill i
get a new comp..

So far ive manadged to get a 50 Wardan and a 44 Necro.. (and an 8
mystic but not realy worth mentioning that) It is very addictive, the
wardan is what i had before the first expansion (i then left because
they changed the game WAY too much) but came back and was shocked to
find out it wasnt as bad as i thought it would be.. so i made a new alt
(that being a necro)..

If your into that kinda thing and you did enjoy EQ1.. you probably
would enjoy it. its worth a try atleast.... (if you dont mind
downloading the update lol  )

anyway... hi again lol
