OK, I wanna activate HL1 in Steam. It says it needs my activation code number, which is legal but packed away in storage someplace.
I need the path to my number on my hard drive using WinXP pro.
I know is stored because I saw it ages ago but cannot recall how to access it.
Anyone remember?

I only have one copy of HL2.
I do however have 3 legit copies of HL1
I might have used one of the other numbers, on my old machine. If so, it would be registered to my account, instead of this number.
Hence, I need to locate my HL1 disks.. But alas, they are in storage.
Oh well. It was merely a thought. Would have been nice to critique HL1 again.

<DIV class=quote>
<DIV class=quotetitle>? quoting Captain P</DIV>
<DIV class=quotetext>Perhaps you can try Valves customer support or something - if you have a legal key you should be able to register it under Steam. It may be that it's Sierra's fault - they had some duplicated cd-keys running, but even then you can get it running with some customer support help and quite a bit of patience...</DIV></DIV>
I have 3 legit keys.. All are mine but... I have loaned them out over the past years. They are prolly all used up by now. It didn't used to matter before steam, all you had to do was not be online at the same time.
I am pretty sure I loaned them all though :/

Next dumb question.. To turn on r_speeds, you need but type "R_Speeds 1"
Now, refresh my memory. "How can I view them outside of console?"
I guess I need to research the commands again. With the new install, all my old stuff is AWOL.

Answer:
In steam, you have the option of setting the properties. Do so.
In the properties you have the option of setting the launch params. add "-dev"
(without the quotes.)
Simple as pie.

Yippah.. I can frag HL1 at a modest 212 ping... Assuming the server is at 212.

I went to storage and located my Op4 and Blue Shift games.
I can now critique those if the need ever arises again..
I'll be glad when the HL2 mods finally drop in price so I can get them. All are still 50 bucks at Wal-Mart.

The first time I've been called a pube. I don't know if it's an insult, a complement, or if you are coming on to me...Unless you're into S&M, then it's probably a little of all three.

The last time I talked to Crono I think I told him to go die in a wheat-thresher somewhere in the middle of Kansas.

I dunno why but, I seem to gravitate to the more abrasive personalities here. Crono is, among my favorite members. You and Cassius are definitely in there as well. Whats funny is, in real life I wouldn't give a single one of you the time of day. My personality would clash so badly that it wouldn't permit me to acknowledge any of you.
That and that alone is why I so dearly love the internet. You get to meet and like so many people. Its like a buffet diner. You can take as little or as much of each as you like and.. Have a great time too.
The one thing I don't like much is, the abrasive personalities that I make friends with, most times cannot stand each other. It kinda ruins the party some.
