I'm starting to learn how to model in Maya, and I was wondering if anyone has a lead on how to get my files into the propper fromat for HL. I know that the standard program for HL is 3DSMax, but Maya is what I've got. any ideas?

You have to somehow get the file into a .smd format. I think there is a maya exporter floating around somewhere but I dont use maya so I dont know where to find it. Then you make your .qc file, and compile the smd into a model with studiomdl.exe that comes with the SDK.<!-- Kerio Popup Killer - script has been appended by KPF -->

I dunno how active the place is, especially for HL, but the only locale I know of for modelling is this...

With a little luck you should find either the tools you need, or the people who can help there.
