Considering Italy knowingly cheated their way to the semi finals I have no time for them at all.

ATM - Argies brought on the argy-bargy because Lehmann jumped off his
line. The rules are ok to jump up and down, but before the decisive
penalty happened he jumped forward off his line and back again before
the Argentine player had kicked. I think that's what all the kafuffle
was about...

Either way the current world cup sucked because once again Wales didn't
qualify  I'm holding on for another glorious performance like 58!

That much is true fish. The first Italy goal was an example of
defenders having more awareness than strikers of a goal opportunity,
beautifully curled in on a gut reaction. Great goal. Add to that
Del Piero's fantastic finish to seal the game, the Italy team were
impressive in extra time indeed. The real winners in that match were
the spectators (unless they were German!)

I'm still crying... My Motherland has failed! IN the motherland. That really burns.

I bet it was a really exciting game to be there for, though. I should have bought tickets for this when I had the chance 5 years ago... lol
I tried sniffing coke, but the ice cubes kept getting stuck in my nose.

Totally needless, a real shame that Zidane ends his career on that note  On the other hand - ITALY WIN! Woohoo, its been a while but I'm glad to see them back at the top. Close and very enjoyable match from start to end, though the extra time seemed a little sloppy. Now I REALLY wish I'd put that bet on Italy winning!

The .gif isn't loading for me (wiki hosted) so can someone tell me whats up?

I stayed up till 2AM to watch the game, and for some reason, I just couldn't stay awake. Maybe it's because I was watching it in bed...

Anyway, I watched until Italy scored and then passed out. I was kinda pulling for Zidane, but oh well. The best team wins, right?

And are you sure 2010 is in South Africa? Bit dodgy down there for a high profile sport and hundreds of thousands of fans...
I live in South Africa, and yep, it's there in 2010. It is indeed a bit dodgy, but we are well onto the preparations and we have a huge sum of money set aside for 2010. Even though we are in Africa, we are alot richer than most people think, we
are now considered to have a first-world economy

Im sure it will be great - sort of

I found the headbut kind of funny, and probably one of the most exciting parts of the cup

Reportedly, the deaf forensic lip-reader Jessica Rees was employed to analyze the video sequences with the help of an Italian translator. According to these reports, Materazzi spoke in Italian - a language understood by Zidane due to his time spent with Juventus F.C. - and first told him: "Hold on, wait, that one's not for a n****r like you." As the players walked forward, Materazzi allegedly said: "We all know you are the son of a terrorist whore." Then, just before the headbutt, he was seen saying: "So just f**k off." According to Brazilian TV Rede Globo, a lip-reader claimed that Materazzi twice called Zidane's sister a prostitute. Earlier claims about Materazzi having called his opponent a "dirty terrorist" have been denied by Materazzi, who reportedly said: "It is absolutely not true, I did not call him a terrorist. I'm ignorant. I don't even know what the word means."

Also if you watch the full sequence that led up to it, it looks like Materazzi gave Zidane a titty twister a few seconds before.
