I hope you all have a fruitful and enjoyable
St David's Day.
If you are stuck for something to do to mark the occasion, perhaps try:
  • Digging for coal
  • Entertaining the local sheep
  • Cooking with leeks and potatoes
  • Throwing a rugby ball around the garden
Failing that, learn to pronounce Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch
and delight in sharing it with every passer by that you meet. Just be
careful not to hock up some spit on their face in the process!

Enjoy

Well, it looks like theres no shortage of oddball holidays in your neck of the woods too.

I swear, if we have but 20 more, the US government workers could take the whole year off.

Then again, whats the downside?

The best things in life, aren't things.

There's one for each constituent nation of the United Kingdom, oddly
enough, the most widely celebrated is St Patricks Day - despite Irish
independence since the 1920's. It's the connection of Guinness and the
excuse to get drunk I suppose, as I understand it's a big holiday in
the United States too (as well as other parts of the world the Irish
have trodden).

St Davids Day/St Georges Day/St Andrews Day all seem to pass without
much affair as a rule, although the papers have been trying to make St
Georges Day a national holiday for longer than I care to remember now..

There is a downside to all these days, in that despite being "national days" - nobody gets a day off. Sucky sucky.

I have no idea what's going on, but it sounds like quite a party!

Good thing I can pronounce "Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch" perfectly.

...

Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch

see?

I've heard that the 'tradition' of wearing green on St. Patty's Day only exists in the US. Is this true?

And you Welsh can just Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch yourselves for all I care.
Also change the texture of the dock. Docks are rarely tile. -Facepunch
