that's why you pause it and wair for the rest, then when it's there you play it. . .
It does get annoying, because both quicktime and windows media player don't remember where things are in real time. What I mean is that, if the video stops downloading or if it sees it is running faster then it is downloading, or vice versa if it calculates that it will reach the end of data, when there's more on the way, before it's done. It should be able to see that, and just not play the file yet, leave it at "buffering" or on quicktime, have it say "loading" that way it will give the effect to the user that even though it's streaming, it's streaming quickly, well, not as quickly as you want (instant), but at least you wouldn't have to be pissed about it stopping in the middle and slowly playing each piece as it recieved it. Those are my 2 cents, but I doubt many people will agree with that, the only thing is, the speed of the player becomes a variable (while online) after this, because it's machine and speed dependant.
Oh well. Neither company has very good software anyway (especially in the area of media).
