written words are not considered art, and will be locked or removed entirely from the arts forum, do not put any poems, jokes, IRC's or articles in this forum.

if i see any, they will be removed.

if the post doesn't involve pictures IT IS NOT ART.

that is all

Good idea, follow the forum guidelines!
Show off your 2D/3D art- models, textures, etc...
Plus I think you need to go outside more if you consider forum-storylines as 'art'

maybe so, but..

the general forum has three mods, YOU have already made it clear you hate the idea, so i doubt you will mod the story thread properly, Dietz is here, but rarely so, and i have seen no modding as of yet from his corner (not necessarily a bad thing, it could mean the general forum is alright) and Gwil, i just do not see him as a story type, i cannot imagine he would want to be tied to the task, so where does that leave me, i volunteer to watch it BUT cannot in the general forum..

i am not trying to change the rules, hell i promoted most of them, but i cannot alter what i do not have access to, you tie my hands, then expect me to sigh and wander off??

anyways, the story is proceeding, IN SPITE of it all..

you should realize, being stubborn is my trait, as much as being a prick is yours..

all-in-all i would change neither of us, were it within my power, but you must accept that we will clash, and accept it.

hmm, so? i should soften the blow somehow? you don't think its news to him do you?

geeze mike, there have been several occasions where being the boss makes him lord, but not right... and before you ask, i don't keep running tallies either.

besides, being a prick is not really considered bad here (not good either) its just a minor title for those not bad enuff to be considered evil, nor saintly...

i refuse to keep a running log of each instance we all are pricks around here, none of us are immune to the desease... but if you prefer, gimme a British word that i can use instead, and i will gladly edit it.. (at least as long as its in the arts forum)

i retract no part of my sentiment, you may replace "prick" with any appropriate British term.

equally not a good word choice, it denotes a definate inability or lack of doing so all by myself

it is dawning on me that you (mike) are turning prick into something more than my intent..

my definition is , someone who is a thorn in your side, as in a small prick or splinter..

someone who is in a position to be so..

hmmm, i dunno how to explain it any better, but being a prick is nothing special.. its a common malady.

still my offer stands, chose a word befitting British mindsets, and i will apply it gladly.

Ah right.

Over here, "prick" means penis (and usually implies "small penis" too).

Looks like an unlikely misunderstanding then. My apology for standing in judgement. I can only plead fatigue.

nothing to apologize for...

prick can mean penis here too, but hasn't in my vocabulary for quite some time..

todays mindset is, penis sizes are not as important as being one in general, so "dick head" usually encompasses all dick type insults.

prick has evolved in my life to mean as i stated above, like "you little prick" being someone who is rather annoying, like a splinter in the most sensitive part of your finger...

anyways.. back at the ranch..

giggles

in the end, we end up with a story in this thread after all

Orph, how would you like it if I called you a cripple or a complete gimp? Which has the same meaning to me perhaps as 'prick' or even stupid, but not to you. And I'm not calling you any of those things, I'm just saying it could possibly 'hurt' in a boo-hoo-it's-the-internet-i-really-care kind of way. Anyway I haven't really done anything wrong except say I don't want these stupid story threads on my forums, and move one out of the art forum- whereas you seem to keep proving to me you're not really fit to moderate here...

mmm... I check the snarkpit a couple times daily, I just don't usually post every chance I get. I do moderate when I feel it is necessary, I just often don't announce to the world what I have changed/modified/deleted/whatever

you seem to forget, i never longed to be one either..

you see lep, if being mod means watching ones mouth because it may bother YOU, then its defeating the purpose of being one in the first place.

i can do it, i just chose not to, all total i have removed one double post in all of my moderatorship, it just goes against my grain to remove someones text on a whim.

snarkpit locks just to damned many threads un-necessarily, a few should have been deleted, not locked cause quite frankly they bring the site down just remaining, but others...

in the end, tis your site, you may chose who mods, but removing me with so little provocation only incites the belief in "prick", my version, not gollums.

if it reaches the point, where we must coddle you as owner, then it lowers the rest of us as well.

remember, the closer to the top one is, the more they are scrutinized for faults... you are in a position to neither ignore yours any more than anyone else's.

keep your mod, it never suited me anyways, especially when it can be revoked for so minor an infringement.

if you like tho, i will be more than willing to point out hence forth the occasions where you fall into "prick" mode, shouldn't take more than a day or two

But when being a moderator, one has to keep in mind that he represents the site and its staff at all times - posting a thread with this such title, and sniping on other threads about the issue is hardly "moderator behaviour" or mature for any age..

Now i'm not particuarly bothered about that now (no-one was ever against the story thread, we've had one before remember) , but I feel the moderation at Snarkpit is just about right. It's presence is notable and keeps out the tat and rubbish threads me, Lep and others have encountered down the years on t'internet. Also I'll say Lep isn't without his faults, and he knows this, but these kind of opinions you had on the story thread issue are better voiced in private than public - publically standing against your "colleagues" smacks a wee bit of 'throwing the toys out of the pram'..

Anyhow, the time is now to be silent on this issue, as Dr Brasso so succinctly put in his addition to the story, and get on with being general 'Pitters..

Hang on didn't you want to have your story thread thing in here? So you could have total control over it? Seems like a bit of a reversal to me.

i had a boss a few years ago who came from somewhere in middle england, i'm not sure where exactly. anyway, one day at a staff meeting she called one of the women a silly cow. now this was intended as an almost friendly rebuff, and it would probably have been taken as such if it hadn't been directed at someone who grew up on the glasgow housing estates, where it's almost certain to start a fight. i had the presence of mind at that time to get to my feet first. s**t, i'd have been the one that had to clean the mess up.

my point?........i'm not sure.

on reading through the thread, my initial reaction was about the same as Gollums. probably because it's one of those words, like 'silly cow' (especially the cow part), that's guaranteed to start a fight here.

Orph, you used a better word yourself, in explaining how you meant it. thorn. you can be stubborn, Lep can be a thorn. (no offence Lep  )

but then again, who's to say that 'thorn' isn't some sort of violence inducing insult in someone elses home town. :grenade:

anyways, had the post been read in FULL, then no more posts would have been required by anyone after i went to sleep.

i made a typo there^^. original post edited, with the word 'for' removed. sorry if this had any bearing on your thoughts.

the sad part, is, gollum and i worked it out via a combination of the pm and open forums till i thought a successful ending, i was satisfied that my comment was harmless, but...

and as my analogous story tells, sometimes harmless can be like beauty

anyways, had the post been read in FULL, then no more posts would have been required by anyone after i went to sleep.

the thread was read in FULL, and the part where you asked someone to offer up a word to replace 'prick', was still unresolved. whether that constitutes a requirement to post on open forums, i'll need to eat more water chesnuts to work out.

the point is, people who take offense, often have a reason for doing so, but in most cases its not the one they think it is.. most times its something else entirely.

even though it was a straw that eventually broke the donkeys back, a cement mixer would have done just as good.

i am willing to take the "slap-on-the-wrist" , its no skin of my nose anyways, i doubt anyone jumped in line to respect me just cause i had a green name anyways...

which is unfortunate, al things considered

I didn't 'sack' you because of the 'prick' comment, it was other things as well as this thread. Basically I don't want you as a moderator here. And yes, bitch at me for the things I do if you want, but I basically want forums that are free of n00bism and bitching and illegalness, but are still pretty 'free and open'. I don't get high on the power, I just want a good website/forums that helps other people.
