Can anyone help me think of ideas for a Map or a mod. I need a setting, time and a story line. Any ideas would be cool.

Umm my suggestion (from many experiences) get a story and setting first, all by yourself. Then discuss it with friends. When you are serious about making the MOD, get a team together and start making a few maps. Once you have something to show off, then you can ask for outside help.

Talk to Sim, Im sure he would like to help you though.

Also dont be afraid to steal ideas, just as long as you don't try to pass them off as your own or something. Not everything is truly original.

What you you think about a spacestation in 2055 they pick up an alien artifact and they go to the consterlation on it and some big battle of the worlds happens. The aliens are alien slave and all them types of monsters

good start, but its bein done. and after that theres not much left of space to exploit. unless you went to a planet. not mars tho. (doom)

good, another question. have humans taken over this planet/system or have you(player) just crashed there? (to find another giant human ship that crashed years ago and the survivers started to build using the large amounts of magnetised Iron (how your and their ship was drawn to crash) blea blea blea, look! another large ship... a ALIEN ship. and then you fight to try and save the people)
just realised it sounds kinda like SOLDER.

I made a suggestion in another thread, didnt get a single reply about it :cry: , and I personally think that was a great idea for a mod. Its a little like NS but very different.

If you're up for it, ill write some lines about it.

Well do you want to make a level pack or actual mod, because a mod really is a game with altered code or weapons (azure sheep), and a level pack is just new maps (USS darkstar).

If it is a level pack tie it back to black mesa (Yes I know its been done many times). You are part of a rescue team that is sent in to retrieve hostages, but you later find out that there really were no hostages, then some where you get a distress call from black mesa, and you head there.

If its an actual mod then go for the space theme as before, these are just suggestions though.

if you are thinking of doing a Space sort of thing what about the sort of thing that the metroid games have done?

Or also you could do somthing from AvP. Although there is already a fps AvP out i dont think there is one on hl

if you want space and aliens then you should make a Half-Duke Mod. Make the Duke 3D weapons and monsters and all sorts of crap like that. Duke Nukem Forever isn't coming out till a long time I think and it would be cool to have a "The Good Ol Days" recap on one of the most classic FPS games of all time. :heee: COME GET SOME! :ar15firing:

Im going to make a map pack like uss darkstar but may add a few personal touches like reskinning models and new wav's. Im proberly planing to make it on my own like SlayerA did with mimicus.

I have allready started to draw down ideas and if i get the story line sorted ill start to map tommorow.

How about a CTF variant, keeping your crashlanded spaceship idea. Two teams, each one needing a number of parts to repair their ship. Parts that the other team has but they dont. First team to complete the repairs on their ship wins...

OK...so its just CTF with more flags :wink:
