ok....heres my take....architecture.....first, read the tuts here....they are actually very good....in essence, just get away from the 90 degree corner thing....that was the biggest issue i saw with your map man....it calls for some creativity, which i know you have (the tower dealy was excellent ... ) ....draw some pictures of cool looking stuff on paper, or look at some real architectural pics, theres tons of them on the net....and just incorporate versions of things you see, and like, into the mix....
Doc Brass... :dodgy:
btw, he was joking about the crates....they are a friggin absolute last resort, after the point when yer mind goes numb and folds right before a stroke... :heee:

how about monitors in the walls with keypads. and cables going along the floor and stuff. . .maybe an area that has a broken panel on the wall so you can see the computer insides, and there's all sorts of computer cards and stuff on the ground. . .dunno, I think that would suffice (especially cables, it could become a jungle for our inneficient human asses  )

I will not be revealing any secret ideas I've had, but if you are mapping for NS I'd suggest looking at other NS maps to see what they do to avoid the crate issue. Pipes, pillars, wreckage, computers, and yes, cargo are all suitable decor.

Pillars, wall light fittings, indented machinery/computers, pipes, electrical/maintenance boxes, indented ceilings, slopes - incorporated within Doc Brassos phrase of "avoid 90 degree architecture" ...
Take a look at halls around you and in the world, or just stroll through SP half-life to see how they do it..

Radiation filled Necluer core coils . . . lol sorry, I don't play NS, but these are just ideas I come up with by seeing some other NS maps (not in game of course).
Lets hope this advice (everyones here) is taken to heart and creates a better map

In my opinion, a general rule should be that if you have to come up with ideas for cover, the map's design or architecture needs work - theoretically they should already accomodate all the cover that's necessary.

This is true, but, the point was that he asked for ideas, so, everyone's jotting down ideas, well whomever is taking interest.
