Hey guys and gal.

I have been playing this free MMO recently called Requiem. It is not bad at all. It looks like it was made with the hammer editor. I can see many of the cities as maps for Half Life. You will have to check it out to see what I mean. But yeah if you do check it out, I am on the server that starts with a V. I think its Veldes. My toons name is Krowmagnan. If you check it out.. look me up and add me as a friend. Be happy to run around with you and help you out.

I checked some vids on youtube, and I don't really think it's using the source engine. I mean, there are many other map editors that work on the same way, and HL content can be stolen maybe.

Might try it out sometime, but I'm not a MMO fan.

Oh I remember hearing about this, isn't it the one where you can harvest dead bodies and construct a monster form or something similar?
Is it free?

Actually the first post leaves no indication as to whether its subscription based or free.

Way to look like a jack wad.

Jack wad? Don't know what you mean by that but I hope its positive. Besides, he said free mmo, meaning its free.
And yes, sometimes I misunderstand something, but I'm only 14 years old and so my english isn't very good.

"Free MMO" gives no info as to what type it is:

Is it like Guildwars where you buy the game and then pay no subscription fee?

Or is it like Second Life where you pay nothing for the game, and nothing in subscription fees.

The latter (2nd) is all Free (And very poor quality), and the first is like (US) 50$.

Settle down you two.
I tried it out last night, pretty cool and it is free to play, but it's one of those "if you pay us, you can get these badass features and an autowin button" MMOs.
Graphics are good for a free to play MMO, and it has blood and gore in adequate quantities.

Unfortunately the whole harvesting of bodies thing is an endgame feature, and parts of monsters only seem to drop from certain monsters that spawn at a certain time after midnight and requires a buttload of people to take down.

Ya, I'd say that's an "adequate" amount of red-tinted textures :geek:

I've never been a big MMORPG guy, even when the setting might be scifi or something else other than fantasy/medieval times. -It's supposed to be the ultimate Game layout and supply the ultimate amount of content and experiences from other players, yet as a supporter of games as the next great medium for story-telling, I find their usual appearances less than appealing.

Maybe it's because they deal with competing against other players, but yet I love playing TF2 and L4D and CSS & HL2DM & COD... So there's something else there that doesn't appeal to me as a gamer, and yet I should support it because it's supposed to represent the holy grail of gaming as the crowning achievement of what games can do for society.

Maybe it's just me, but what's the appeal here? What makes MMOs more fun than other RPG games or other online games? And why do people look out for indie MMOs such as Requiem? -Are they looking for new features not offered from the main-stream ones? :nag:

As for me, I really like offline RPG's Like Gothic 2, Oblivion etc.

Gothic 2 is my favorite game of all time by the way.

The storylines of MMORPG's are - most of the time - not very good. But that's not the only point, I'm always more interested in offline games.

I am an avid gamer.. Heck my LIC plate even is G4MER. ( I'll post a picture to prove it. )

I have tried many games and MMO's. Ny friend in Seattle does not think he should HAVE to pay to play a game.. behond buying it in the store and then taking it home and installing it. Why pay a monthly fee? So he and I over the course of 2 weeks Downloaded and installed every MMO game out there and gave them a try. Requiem was the winner, with Perfect World a close second. He wanted that CounterStrike, pop in and play for a couple hours game with out all the fuss of the housing and trade skills and so forth. Requiem is great for that, and it has great game play... and that cool steam punk feel he enjoys with a Tabletop Wargame called WarMachine.

I have tried almost all the pay to play ones as well.. there are features in this one or that one I enjoy, but no one has yet to put the right combo together for me just yet.

But MMO's are not all that I enjoy.. I love First Person Shooters, and I was really let down by Farcry 2, great game all they way till the end and then I felt let down. GRAW2, great game, a bit hard in spots, but awesome game play. SWAT4 great game.. too bad it does not have that big of a multiplayer following. Tom Clanceys Vegas games are great too.. but more people seem to like them on the Console than on the PC. Only Console I really like these days is the Wii.. I am not that good at the whole controller gaming.. too used to mouse and keyboard, and the 360 wont use one.. dang it. Anyways.. I also enjoy RTS games like age of mythology.

I have not tried Oblivion, or Gothic 2, I will have to do that soon.

Have any of you tried Spore.. thats a fun game.. really feeds the creative side of me.

At the 25th of June a new addon is going to be released called Galactic Adventures. Hell gonna get that one.
