It communicates to others via the internet faster than dialup.

Seriously, its just a mobile wi-fi connection but it'll do.
Finding semi-affordable was long in coming.

Go easy Orpheus, don't let all the new technology go to you're head :p I remember you're posts back from when I was 13 so you must have been doing something right. My pops has one of those cell phone mobile internet things, it's amazing what they can do these days. Maybe you having internet access will boost the number of active members to about five now

In the interim of the past 3.5 years or so I lost my MSN account. My entire contact list is gone. I bet I coulda got a few to show from that alone.

Since I have no list, I guess we'll never know.

Its never been a question of technology. I'm as spiffy as most of you, if not more since I buy my own PC's and most of you still have mommy buying them.. It was a question of money. I couldn't see spending a small fortune on internet access. Its still higher than I'd like, but less than I've seen till recently.

My new net will cost me 35.00 a month for 3 gigs worth of use... SO keep those images small guys.. Under 1,000 k if possible. :teach:

O happy day! The post master is back. I thought somebody would have had you matched by now in post count, but I guess that will never happen now :nag:. It's all about the small comments, and the fact you started so many threads about a lot of reoccurring little things I imagine.

Yes Money, you're worth every cent.
Considering the alternative is for everyone to just ignore you, I'd not complain overmuch about any interaction you receive. We know you didn't get it bud. You did just about as well as we all expected.

Chances are if they did IM each other they'd be able to send and receive files unlike some people.

You having issues with your computer Adam? Anything I can do to help?

Why would anyone ever want to have Money on a contact list? Besides no one would be able to enjoy his antics in a private communique. ;)

Crono's issue is that he doesn't have MSN and has some other crappy chat protocol called AIM that nobody uses and also that he uses Trillian/Pidgin which isn't compatible with Google Chat's file transfer. :p

If I know Adam, and I do better than he wishes sometimes, he's not likely to ever have anything begins with "M" if he doesn't have to.
Besides if he wanted to file swap I'm sure he could. I'm thinkin he prolly has some form of an ftp program.

Anywho's that explains the part I was missing.

We don't even talk over MSN accounts (and pidgin fully supports them, to note) Gmail Talk has some wonky ass file transfer protocol that isn't part of normal XMPP. Therefore, you can't send files to it unless you're using the actual Google Talk client ... and fuck that.

Aaron, I'm not the guy who insists on having 7 clients for different protocols. I use one.

Low down: Aaron insists on files being emailed to him even though it takes forever instead of just getting a legitimate IM client. The thing I don't get is ... he could use pidgin or something instead of Google Talk and still use MSN Messenger for that ... and it would be identical to what he's doing now (since he uses two clients anyway)

He won't even try. That bitch.
Blame it on Microsoft, God does.

I don't even have the Google Talk client on my home computer, I installed it on my computer at Tafe. And I always leave my emails open in Firefox so it's really convenient for me to use Google's web based chat client inbuilt into Gmail. Besides I've noticed conflicts when you have the Google Chat client and the web based client open at the same time.

I do like the idea of having an all in one chat client but in the case of msn which is my main instant messaging network I find that the Windows Live Messenger client works the best with it. I've tried Trillian and it doesn't support all of msn's features such as having a "scene" (background) that other people can see when they talk to you and image viewing.

You've still never tried Pidgin (which is superior to Trillian in just about every way). It's constantly updated. As far as I know it has nearly all the features MSN requires, save for something super wonky.

You don't even use a dedicated client!? I hate you. You wouldn't be able to receive files ANYWAY.
