Its no wonder Snarkpit is in a slump. Times were when motivating others to invest time here was upper most in everyone's mind. So and so's map was this, or so and so's model was that. Even inane topics were welcome, for which some forget, that's what the "general" forums was intended for.

We have had two good to excellent interviews written and no one can be bothered enough to even say fuck you. Sad when you consider that those interviews didn't arrive at Riven's in the format they are posted in. I myself know what it takes to sift through other peoples idea of a well written project.

I see people here as guests all the time. Sad they cannot even bring themselves to login. Worse still, if they are true guests then their impression of our site must be bordering on pathetic. Well, that's not really fair I guess since pathetic would be a really monumental over statement.

I was gone practically nonstop for over three years so I understand shit happens. What I cannot fathom is people coming here but not saying a damned thing. This site is in a slump for exactly that reason. Lack of interaction. There are HL sites out there with far less quality reputations than Snarkpit yet their post counts are up. Personally, I'd be ashamed to only pass through here as a guest, but thats just me I guess.

Anywho's, its a sad state of affairs that no one can be bothered.

If the only two choices are quiet and your version of Snarkpit, then its no contest. Snarkpit chooses quiet. Its been truly nice that nobody, absolutely NOBODY has started any trouble here since you went away.

I personally believe that this old place has something to give other than abuse. It may take a while, but things will pick back up again and the abuse will stay gone.

Something new to HL2 will spark and we'll shine again. If you intend to be a part of that I'd seriously reconsider how you treat the core members.

You should be ashamed of yourself. People are trying to create more activity here. The new interviews is a great idea and you can only post abuse.

Can't you divert some of that energy into anything positive? The interviews have been going on for about a week and you've done nothing. 3 great interviews, and none of them commented upon.

For the longest time we had an unwritten law: "If you do not like the topic, keep your mouth shut or accept whatever happens after you enter unto it."

Dudes, look really slow. Read every post and you'll notice all it is is a thread commenting on how slow things are Not only at Snarkpit, but everywhere online. Yeah we are here, so the commenting will be primarily ABOUT HERE, but things are just slow everywhere.

The only heat, and I mean attacking specific individuals come from only one source. You will notice that even though Money and I do NOT get along, that whenever he post a non-attacking comment, no one bothers him. He has made a few replies about maps that no one said anything derogatory to HIM or about HIM.

Money is upset because until recently no one here (active here) reminded him about his disruptions. He is still acting exactly the way he did years ago when he was asked to leave. The only thing that's changed is there are so few people pointing him out. ITS NOT A NEW THING GUYS!!! He has always acted this way.

Now seriously (and yes I have discussed it with multiple people here in private) all this thread was is a ranting about how inconsiderate our current members are with regards to Riven's new interviews idea. For good or bad, its only a thread concerning that. This site never used to have issues with people ranting about this or that. UNTIL NOW. If you do not like the interview thing, that's just fine but telling me to stop ranting that no one is commenting is just wrong.....

Sure we had threads that wandered into incredibly stupid directions... (ABORTION AND GAYS) but those thankfully were far between... Although, Nickle had a focal point for a while but its not so common now... Although here again, as slow as things are a good NicklePlate debate would be kinda cool.

All Money wants is for things to go back to nobody calling him stupid whenever he does stupid. That's it in a nutshell.

Seriously guys, you cannot want things to remain slow. I just refuse to believe it. I suggest that you either come up with your own brand of ideas and implementing them or take a moment to assist someone trying hard to motivate. I personally liked the interview idea. I also thought that with the limited and somewhat narrow minded members currently active that we would have to expand outside Snarkpit to get things rolling. BUT I had hopes that some people would comment even for no other reason than Riven deserves it. Its freaking hard to keep a site afloat through the slump times. Even the best ideas come out flat.

Truly people. Any outsider wandering in here today is gonna get the wrong impression about us. They are gonna think that all we do is squabble. Nobody is gonna think anything unusual about someone ranting about slumps, or inactivity. BUT they're gonna get really concerned about someone attacking specific individuals.

Anywho's I suggest strongly that everyone take a breather and stop doing stupid. and yes, defending stupid, is stupid too.

If you don't like the interviews do something else. NOT ATTACKING. That's a something else we can do without.

This is silly. Really. We're suppose to be responsible adults here, even if we're not, part of that entails DEALING WITH SHIT. This arguing has gotten quite old now and its not really cool don't you guys think? This isn't some intellectual debate over a matter, just lame ass personal attacks and if you's want to do it then I would think the private message feature is more than ideal for that.

Regarding the interviews, like myself maybe some folks are out on holidays and don't really have the time to read/take-them-in/comment on them?

Anyway I had a great new years eve, I went to the local golf club with the people I'm staying with because we wanted to be able to walk back to the place we're staying at. When we got there to our surprise the place was full of old people (we're talking average age of 60 maybe) and we paid $50 for "live music" which consisted of an old couple sitting on stools singing old, slowish and undoubtedly nostalgic songs for all the old folks. It was quite funny listening to the few young mostly couples there ranting about how bad it was. But after more drinks the night got fun and we met some really nice people including the local golf pro who signed a golf ball for us, and I won $150 on the pokies! The walk back to the resort was literally funny, I drunk 5 shots of rum just as I left and they hit me as I was walking and I couldn't stop laughing. Lost my micro sd card for my phone though walking back and I woke up with a really sore throat but its all good times.

Anyone do anything for new years eve?

I played Legos with my little cousins (I've saved my collection from 10 years back and brought it over for "them" to enjoy). It reminded me about how carefree I used to be as a kid listening to them talk over what they wanted to build. I totally sat on the floor and played with Legos for two hours, it was awesome.

Aaron, what does it mean for something to be "literally funny" as opposed to just being funny?

Also, we didn't shoot any fireworks because we were in town (a small "bedroom community). But man, every time big fireworks went off, you could hear police sirens across town, because it's illegal within the city limits. But still, I think that's kind of a moronic thing to police, let alone enforce on New Year's Eve.

2011 came unnoticed here. I was watching Big Stan on tv and noticed it was 1:20 in the morning. I cannot recall a time where a new year arrived so unceremoniously. 2010 wasn't to bad I guess. They say that time flies when you're having fun so I guess we had a blast around here cause it went by fast.

Lets hope that 2011 brings an upswing in PC gaming. We need something to fill the void left by the HL2 hype letdown. Come on HL3.

Not entirely sure why you're tickled pink that I called you a douchebag, but there's still a matter of HL2EP3 to be addressed by valve before HL3 ... and if they skip it, I'm gonna be pissed.

Also, the days of Half-Life being PC exclusive are far gone. So, there would be no such upset. This year was the best shot, considering stuff like Minecraft, Dawn of War 2 Chaos Whatever, and Starcraft 2, which are actually all exclusive, and people who don't play PC games still don't care, so whatever.

I like LEGO's as well Riven.. The wife and I have a big box full of them.. she started collecting them soon after we got married, she has been building a scale castle in the garage for years. Pac man, I have that on my Phone... it great fun when sitting out in the field with nothing to do.

My grandmother and I when I was a wee lad used to bang pots and pans and yell happy new year.. I did that with my kids this year. The people across the street yelled back HAPPY NEW YEAR and flashed their lights.. was kinda cool to have a neighborhood get involved with the new year celebrations.

Regarding lego, has anybody seen this?

That is pretty freaking awesome. As a student of architecture, I understand that frustration of them having to accept the wooden studs as per building code. There are so many compromises to be made for a non-standard building of any quality.

Regardless though, that interior designer pretty much acts like the ID students at my school. Somewhat flighty, and quick to put aesthetics above all else.
