Hopefully I'll get to Valve studios in the next few days and get to see some good stuff and pics.
I'll post again soon.

Ya his son-in-law I believe.

Awesome! Could you take pics of the scenery outside around the Valve studio building? I'm curious of the context.

I hope I can be there around this time next year! (visiting of course).

Yeah, it's my son in law. He's an artist and 3d designer for them. He was on the TF2 team and did alot of TF2 content. He on a different team now working on other stuff.
I can do that for ya Riven, I'll get some pics of the building and area around it. AND as many of the inside as possible, I'm gonna ask (even if it's Gabe what I can shoot. Yeah I've met and talked to him b4.) I don't know what all I can get, I can't take any of them working on stuff or their work areas, but maybe I can get unique some pics.

Okay, it's about 6:30 in the morning here, I'm out on the patio while everyone else is sleeping still.
Today I'm going to Valve with the son in law to hang out while the ladies go shopping. :D

You mean to say that you'd pass up shopping for a tour of Valve?
Well I never.

Funny you would say that, but yeah I passed up shopping and going to valve today. Our daughter this morning went to the doctor and while in the office started having labor pains.
So we cancelled our day of fun hoping this baby comes soon. But I will get there, I want to get a video of the sentinal gun they had built for the main lobby. It's really cool.

Agh, I want to be there! I'm there in thought, lol.

Man that's so cool. I think I get a bit nerdy and immature when it comes to this, but I'm thinking myself in your shoes I suppose.

And btw, I really appreciate ya taking those shots. I'm looking to do some more architecture projects located in downtown Seattle, and there aren't that many pictures to be found online of the surrounding area (beyond low res Google Street View and Bing.

Good luck with the new granddaughter! :flail:

Actually Valve is in Bellevue near Microsoft, which is a stones throw from Seattle.
I'll get some video too which I'll post from there. It's really crazy driving out here too, the streets and roads go every direction and you almost always have to take the freeway to even get to the grocry store.
We've been on the 405 and 522 everyday and and MAN these ppl are crazy out here on the road, Orph you'd appreciate that I'm sure.

Then I reckon its a damned good thing that geek stuff is done indoors for all the rain. Its prolly what motivated them in the first place. :hee:

Idea: a snark pit gathering in Bellevue? Maybe even try and persuade gabe to give us a tour of Valve (hell they gave a tour to Eternal Silence team). A bunch of mappers doesn't seem too out of the question :D.

They will do tours I believe. You know what I'll ask when I can.
Actually we stopped there today to have lunch w\the sil and ate in the cafeteria area there. Didn't get to walk around the place cause they're real busy today.

Though I got to chat for awhile w\some guys I haven't seen since last year.
Knowing what I know about the work environment there I wish to hell I could work there.

In regards to rain, mostly it just mists and that's about all we've gotten. Actually been pretty nice, more sun than rain.

Spent some time at Valve today not much but cool time, I got some pics I'll post as soon as I get them on my machine.
Valve does do tours just have to ask the right people. Saw one coming out as we were going in the building.

Nora Beth Wolf, 7.11 lbs, 21 inches long.
Hopefully the next great artist in the family, along with Mom and Dad.

Thnx, yeah she's a cutie. They've been trying for about 3yrs now, and finally did it, I think they did a pretty good job.

I'm trying to find a way to get that turret home, would look good on my shelves by my computer. :naughty:
