I've been trying to make a map with a sort of spinning light as a warning, like a siren? so it will be a spotlight rotating or something, and have the target moving or something, but I couldn't think of any way that worked to do this, any ideas?

I've made one myself a while ago, I know it's possible.

You could try this tutorial:

If this is for HL1, there are a bazillion prefabs with rotating lights. If I recall, Valve included one in worldcraft/hammer.

Thanks for the video, I forgot to mention this isn't in the SDK version as it's for a Half Life mod so doesn't have some of the features shown..

And I don't seem to have any prefabs with my version oddly

What I would do is I would create a rotating lamp (obviously) but then make a brush that would be the light, and change it to a func_illusionary, set the render mode to "solid" (If that one doesn't work, try a few other ones) and set the render amount to something like 50.

I realize I am not really making much sense here, so I made a quick drawing:

So basically it is all one brushwork (and perhaps a light entity next to it, but such light won't be able to rotate though, at least not in the half-life 1 engine)

You know something really annoying? This page has already been crawled by google, so trying to find an answer is very difficult. :P

Anyway ... in HL1 ... they did a light beam effect on a lowering door ... have you considered using Niborius' idea with the light beam being a brush and rotating around a fixed light source? It should give the effect of a siren. In terms of actually making dynamic light ... I don't know if any mod actually supports that for GoldSource.
Blame it on Microsoft, God does.
