I got myself a Wacom graphire 3 today, cheapest one but theyre all built to do the same thing..
been playing around on it, (obviously!) heres the start to a mock political cartoon thing i began.. about 15 minutes worth of scribbling here..
 either way, if youre interested in art/texturing/skinning/general gfx gubbins i recommend one of these things whole heartedly

I've got a graphire 3 as well, and I'm actually curious about the intous 2 (has more pressure levels, almost twice as many actually).
What size did you get Gwil?

I draw steadier with a mouse than with a pencil.

Oh man, you got a big one. mines only 4x6 (10.16cm X 15.24cm)
Something I'd suggest when using a tablet, reframe from drawing with it in Photoshop, it gets choppy. Try out painter (it should have come with some sort of version of painter). It has nice flowing lines, and really nice effects (such as water paper and water color brushes).
Also, in Photoshop, don't know if you know about this or not, you can make your work area take up the entire screen, meaning, no toolbars or menus, just your work area. Painter can't do that to my knowledge. (In PS, on the tools window down towards the bottom there are three buttons horzontally lying next to each other, click the farthest right one and then tab, and you'll be able to use whatever tool you had selected on a full screen basis, press tab again to bring the tool boxes back)
Cass, do you mean for everything?
I tried drawing with a mouse once . . . way too difficult, I did it though, but it was crap.
For texturing I can see how a mouse would be MUCH easier at times.

Oh man, I really want a Wacom tablet now! Intuos2 4x5 = will be mine. Nice drawing by the way.
Here's a random tip I remember from somewhere: If you feel the tablet surface isn't really good for drawing, try taping a piece of paper (kind of thin I think) onto it. The pen should still register, but it should also feel a lot more natural when drawing.
[edited to clarify that I WANT an intuos2 and do not, as of yet, possess one such item  ]

Yeah, I remember reading that tip on the Wacom site. However, even though it helps with the physical feel of what you're drawing on, it doesn't help the fact that the tip for the pen (by default) is very fine. I tried finding some other tips they sell, but none of them are wider, they just have airbrush tips. . .
Also, CJ, why did you say you want a Wacom tablet if you have one?? Or are you saying you want an Intuos 2?

                        Congrats on the tablet!
If you're having problems drawing smooth flowing lines in Photoshop, make sure you have 'smoothing' selected under brush options. If this box isn't checked, you will have very angular, geo shapes instead of circles and smooth curves.

Finger, it's the tablet, that's not even an option on my version of Photoshop lol.
It is because of the size of my tablet I believe (it's rather small). When I do curves you can see a bit of blockyness in them. but not with the mouse.
Anyway, Enjoy the Tablet, Gwil.

Yes Andrei, mines a photo of Red Army troops raising the flag on the Reichstag (took them 6 hours to get to the top or something ridiculous like that...) and yours is what looks like a colour painting of the same scene

I have two WACOM Tablets a 6X8 Intous and 9X12 Intous 2. The 6 X 8 barely fits in the Laptop bag that I tote back and forth to work. The 9X12 is stationary at my desk at home. I do however use an old telephone stand that pulls out from under my Desk and I sit the 9 X 12 on that. Pays to work for a Office Furniture Company some days.
