I've been thinking lately that with the uploadable screenshots this site now uses, there is absolutely no excuse for NOT having screenshots with a map. Posting a little bit of info is all fair and well but a screenshot can tell a thousand words and all, and if the map isn't developed enough to even have one screenshot to show, it shouldn't REALLY be getting put up on the site. Perhaps it should be set so that if you don't have screenshots, you can't post it?
What are other people's thougths on this?

Probably a good point for the maps forum, but otherwise I don't see the problem... Methinks a bit of laziness has crept in and now people look at the screenshots before commenting, and don't bother downloading the map itself

I think we should leave it with maps in member profiles, but in the map forum, the topic should at least have either a download link, or some screenshots. It's rather annoying when someone posts "Look at my map! Tell me what you think! Screenshots in a few days when I figure out how to use Paint ROFL!11!!!". Waste of space really when they could have waited until they had screens.

Well it certainly could be attributed to laziness, but in my situation its near impossible to comment on maps themselves (well, it takes a fair bit of effort to do in any detail, since I have to use the uni comps for a net connection), so screenshots is a nice thing to be able to talk about.
Perhaps it is more hassle to implement than its worth, as most people have the sense to not post maps without either a link to download or screenshots, but it feels like half of the maps on this website have no reason to be listed as they can't be downloaded OR looked at.

Please, no picture of killbox can make a thousand words, unless they are repeated over and over and consist mostly of swear words.....

/my 2 cents...
laziness aside.. i still think valuable input can be obtained with just screens alone, considering the alternative is NO INPUT at all without them...
secondly, some of us no longer have HL installed, and its rather tuff to load a map without it..
thirdly, some of us have put in our time for god and country as far as downloading, installing, critiquing, and posting a zillion screens of our own, its a fair request IMO, if anyone wants input, show at least as much effort, as you want in return.. if they want MY input, i want THEIR effort..

I agree with Orph. I don't think I've ever bothered to do a critique if the poster hadn't already put up some screens.
