Well your "peeps" are wrong. If they planned to take it off the market, they wouldn't wait for the series to reach 4 games and a mission pack and become one of the biggest selling video game series of all time to do it.

GTA is a brilliant series. The open-endedness of it is what keeps me coming back. Mindless killing sprees are the best. wonder what new features they'll implement...

Personally, I'm hoping for a lot more indoor bits, larger cities, and the ABILITY TO SWIM. It could works imilar to the sprinting system, where you'd swim about on the surface, and evertually he gets too tired and you can't swim anymore. A little meter could help with this, as well as the stamina system. If people are worried about swimming off the map, you can't. You just re-appear on the other side of the city.
A better targeting system for the consoles could work as well. The one they have now is fine, they just have to make the game figure out who the bigger threat is more easily. I hate it when I'm being chased by gang members, my car is in flames, I get out, get my shotgun, press aim, and suddenly Tommy is aiming on the other side of the street at a random pedestrian. Death.
A lot more indoor places would be cool;having every single building open would be insane, so I'm not expecting something like that. Another one I'd like is for them to get rid of loading times, except for the very beginning, a feature games like Soul Reaver already did to great effect.

Yeah, some more indoor bits would be nice, running from cops into apartments a hotel of the hospital would be great.
Aah yes, I hated not being able to swim. The main problem is that he's too much of a tough guy to wear armbands. Nothing more annoying than stylishly flipping your car into the water.
I didn't really experience any aiming woes, as I was playing the pc version. Mouse=win
One area which was omitted is multiplayer, multiplayer, multiplayer. Even if it only would support a couple of players, killing people with your friends would be class. Killing people in the game that is.

Multi-player would be nice. I'd love to see car-based multi-player, like street races, chicken etc. Team-play could be involved.
Oooh, OOH! Co-Op Missions. Or better yet....complete the mission before the other team! Hehe, I'm getting myself so hyped up.

The indoor parts blew hard. The engine can't handle them and they aren't all that fun anyways. VC had a distinct lack of entertaining missions involving cars.
As long as they revert back to the police from GTA3 I'll be happy. The VC cops had the odd ability of being able to open your door and arrest you even if the car was accelerating, and that pissed me off to no end. That and the stopsticks essentially ruined my favorite part of GTA: the vigilante missions. They could also fix all the pathfinding bugs of the criminals that were never in GTA3...

Vice City was GTA3 with a couple of sums done on it -
Add better graphics, more vehicles and "indoor" settings (which like you say Yak, blew)
Subtract interesting missions, "realistic" cities and decent AI.
As for multiplayer, I imagine it will happen eventually on a PC version - you can already get an unofficial "patch" for the PC GTA3. Oh, and when they say "exclusive to console x" they usually mean "exclusive for 6months until we've made our initial profits, lets move it over to other formats".
Kage: I never found any problems with the auto aim system, even in crowds - just point your player in the general direction of the threat THEN press. Or you could just press R1, O, R1, O and take everybody out

Oh, if it's coming out they'll make it for computer as well. That wont be out until 8 months later or so. (I'm not kidding, all the GTA 3D games have come out in fall sometime and the PC counterparts didn't come out until May of the following year).
They have mutliplayer support for GTA3, it sucks, and it's not official, but it's there. Also, that would be freakin' nuts, they'd have to cut off parts of the city or something, or take out the NPCs.
I mean that would kick ass, but they would have to change the way you get hurt and everything, also it would take forever to find people unless you had some sort of locater or something like that.
I'd love it if they got something like that working, and taking that all the consols are online now (GameCube, PS2, and CrapBox) they might add in some multiplay
(Although they might have it on the Console and not the PC, like Enter The Martix and Freedom Fighters, mutliplayer on both of them don't exist on the PC, because they didn't want to write networking code)
Anyway, in any case, cool, GTA is great, I've gotta finish up Vice City before it comes out then, however taking that I will only play it on my computer, I have a nice long wait in store.

This is the bit I don't like....waiting for the PC version of it  I played both GTA3 & VC on my PS2 and then played them again on my PC. The PC version is just so much better (personal preference), easier aiming, nicer graphics, shorter load times etc.
Worst bit is waiting for them to even announce a PC version - all that time waiting while the PS2 version seduces me from the shop shelf! And i'm weak willed dammit! Shame on them!

God, there were missions in Vice City that I couldn't accomplish on the PS2 . . . the controls were way to funky . . . or is it funkaay. Anyway, I have no problem waiting  ............Believe me you'll have other games to satisfy your PC gamming hunger (And no they're not bad for you A_S, but these don't need to be in moderation  )

Multiplayer would be fun. And perhaps a mission/map editor...
Does anyone know if they plan to release Manhunt for PC?

Hmm, I think it's too much of a console game to really warrant a PC conversion. Then again, they did convert Silent Hill, Final Fantasy, Resident Evil, Metal Gear Solid...

don't forget Dead to Rights (DISARM!), Every Silent Hill, Resident Evil, Square, Metal Gear Solid 2, Substance, game. And countless others that I can't cheat off of Cage to think of.
It actually pissed me off more when they take computer games and put them on consoles. Like Max Payne, Half-Life, well every computer game that's been big really (Startcraft, OH GOD!).

It's a third person shooter/adventure. The only games I'd class as consoley are sports and fighting games. Anyone who has player need for speed underground on the pc will disagree that racing games are for consoles only.

Vice was pretty good, but overall it wasn't too much of a change from GTA3. I mean besides the setting, not much was added. I really liked the ability to jump out of cars when moving. I hope to see new stuff in this one like new vehicles (skateboards, jetskis?), better police AI(maybe Police dogs), and ability to mod ur own car somewhere. Stuff like that. Wish they gave some info rather than just a confirmation, but it's better than nothing.

It'll be nice to have a new GTA, hopefully it will have PS 2.5 graphics when it comes out on PS2 (I prefer GTA on console), just like Kill Zone will have. Just this time around I hope the levels will be better designed. I don't know what it is but I thought GTA3 had more "atmosphere" than GTA VC did. But the changes in Vice City (*cough motorcycle) were well done.

I found the autoaim in Vice City (on console only) VERY annoying, but you had to use it unless you wanted to get shot to holy hell simply because aiming blows ass with controlers, plain and simple.

It's mostly just annoying. Especially when people wont even reconize a game until it's on a console.
