I was just wondering how many here use proxy's. I know I do. Nothing beets privacy. I mean once you get someone's ip; it isn't hard to find out there isp and then acount info. Which can even include street address. But my beloved proxy's help solve that invasion of my as jean luke picard prounounces privvacy aherm. back to normal accent One day I'm from puerto rico. The next day, I'm from the backhills of Dakota. w00t. </rant>
Now if your wondering the point of this post; here goes. What's your fav proxy? I'd have to say mine is 204.60.156.2 It runs on port 80, and I've had much better success with proxy's on http. Over 'n' out.

Er, what's the point in hiding your IP? You don't go shopping/walking wearing a balaclava, so why should you need to conceal your identity online? Ooooh no all those scary marketers who can watch you look at pr0n just by knowing your IP

I also see no point in hiding your IP...

I guess you don't see any poing in keeping your address private either. Especially if your giving it to a vandal and then telling it all the flaws in your homes security. Because with port scanners, all you need is ip to find an open port. Then try to find some known exploits. Not to mention, it can be used to get isp, acount info, and then home address and what not. If your comfortable with all that then by all means. Give it out.

there are advantages to being poor white trash then i guess.. few would consider anything i have of value, and since my credit rating is horrible as well.. they couldn't use that either..
i never thought i would be happy to be poor, but now... oh yeah

Getting acount info... That is more of a theoretical thing, but most isp's keep track of which customers have which ip's. Though its pretty silly to believe someone is going to try and crack your isp's network just to get info on your ip is seriously doubtable, if anyone ever did get into you isp, they could pretty easily post acount info somewhere on the 'net for the script kiddie that got ahold of your ip to take a gander at. And the main reason for proxy's realy is purely privacy. No I don't wear a mask walking down the street, but I try to keep a low profile as to what I'm actually doing.

"
Have you been reading your spam? Yes, you can find out the ISP- yours is SBC, isn't it?- but tell me, how do you then find out account info and your home address from that? Especially when my ISP, like many others, also uses a cache? Go on, I dare you, crash my PC and find out my dog's name- 203.218.107.188 (pcd317188.netvigator.com) (lol sorry, in a weird argumentative mood)"
I was sitting down when I decided that, just for fun, I'll accpet the little challenge. I'm not in anyway saying I'll be able to succeed, but it would be good research practice for me anyway. Live long and prosper

Well, a quick running of sam spade helped me get the following. Unfortunately for me your ip block wasn't in the arin database, probably because your in uk. At anyrate here's the resuts
"Org name: Asia Pacific Information Centre
Org id:APNIC
address: PO Box 2131
State Prov: QLD
Postal Code: 4064
country: AU" The rest is just protocol info. TO be honest, I don't know if the addy etc. is your ip or not because two reasons. Your ip block wasn't in the data base, and I just now dl'd the prog......got it off my fav. comp related bbs. Live long n prosper

Well, as I said, I'm still figuring out the program. I do know its legit though because it uses the arin database. Maybe if you weren't in a local so far from me I'd have better luck. That is, if, your not pulling my leg. Live long 'n' prosper
