The last two products will most likely end up neatly tucked into my shelf next to my computer  .   About time someone made a book with design insights.   (could be crap though, we'll see).

The subscription seems kind of high don't you think, after 4 to 5 months you've already paid for HL, then they are just milking $$$ out of you.   They say you get access to every game/product they make with the subscription.......think about how long it took them to make HL2, by the time they released something new you'd be in the multiple hundreds in subscription payments (sounds like a wanna be MMORPG service, WITHOUT the extra game content  )

yeah, They wont make enough updates / changes to models maps mods etc to make up for the price. subscription isnt worth it.

Yea, that'll be BS if they don't release standard updates to the public anymore (can't imagine them doing that though)

Well, valve can be pretty crappy sometimes - seems more often than not, but think of all the stuff ' they've ' released over the years for hl1.

Holy crap batman --- didnt see the prima's mod making guide --- the only thing that's gonna be usefull for is absorbing water cooling leaks...

Me hopes that Gabe Newell will not become the 2nd Bill Gates.

I'm reluctant to pre-order at the moment as I read that there will be 3 versions (SP only, SP+MP, and SP+MP deluxe) - yet all the online shops I look at list only one version. I don't want to end up with the SP only package.

And I do think Valve are taking the piss a little this time round - just because they have released one (note one) good game, doesn't mean they can ponce around like this expecting us to jump when they tell us to.

I hope for their sake that HL2 is good. Everything in my mind tells me that it will be, but they have a funny way of going about things, that's for sure.

Hey? They're making the game and it's up to them and the producers when it's released, just because they've announced a date doesn't mean it has to stick- every other developer in the world ever has broken a deadline and released a late game. I reckon HL2 will be released on the 30th over Steam (can you think of a better idea to get people to download and use that program..?), and probably November in shops...

It's not the release date that's bothering me  I'm happy to wait as I have enough games to work my way through at the moment - it's just the fact that there's going to be 4 different versions according to Valve, and only one according to all the online shops.

I can just see me getting the cut-down version through the door if I pre-order. It's that uncertainty that's making me a little wary...

I would be astonished if anyone at Valve cared about the September 30th release date.  All that matters to them is that they get it released ready for the annual luxury products boom at Christmas time.

That's a good point about the pre-order, I would have thought it'll be the 'regular' priced version, i.e. not the SP-only one

my pre-order only cost 25 quid so im guessing its the sp only tbh lep. If I were anyone else I wouldnt pre-order atm. If it is the sp only or they dont offer to change it il just cancel it.

i see no advantage in waiting.. if released now, very few would wait till xmas to purchase it, and even with the rush, few additional people will buy it..

i am betting, with a comparative analysis, no more games will be sold by waiting..

propblem is, how does one know.. besides i don't wanna wait.. gimme my HL now
