I'm planning on making some PC upgrades at the moment and have been browsing around a few internet shops for the best deals and selection. Thought it would be nice to have people's recommendations on good places to check out, prior service from them, etc...

Obviously I'm only really interested in UK suppliers but might as well make suggestions from around the world for other people and future reference.

Here are a few of the places I've shopped from before...

Novatech
Decent range of products, good prices, and good reputation. Typically my first port of call for all things techy.

Dabs
Slightly difficult website to use (not a big problem, but not the easiest I've come across) but otherwise a good place. Decent enough prices from my experience, and not had any troubles with service.

Aria
Just used this company recently for upgrades on my parents PC. They had the best selection to match the stuff I was looking for, and their prices were also very low. Really good comments on pretty much every product they supply also, loads of customer comments and staff replies.

Overclockers
Obviously as the name suggests, they are mostly aimed at performance PC's and overclocking stuff. I have ordered from them in the past and have no complaints, except for the fact they don't stock Thermaltake (who is the manufacturer I'm currently looking to buy things from) despite being an overclocking store!

Microland Technology
This is the place I'm looking to order my new parts from. A few pounds cheaper than the competition on most of the products I'm looking to buy, but its made up for with their large shipping costs (?18, while most other places are about ?10). I guess its good if you are buying loads of stuff however, and their selection of stuff seems pretty wide.

So, what about you guys?

I just use Dabs, it's very reliable and not over-priced.

Good local selection for me, good prices. Not the best for service, but I don't need tech support since I'm better off doing it myself. As well, I've worked for another local company and can just talk with the technician if need be.

other than that, my local hardware suppliers usually give me 10-40%
discount, depending on the frequency and monetary value of my
intermittent visits

Personally I use www.cclcomputers.biz. They've got the cheapest prices
I know, and I can pick up an order in person since they only live on
the other side of town. Unfortunately they've got a nasty reputation of
missing things out of mail orders.

When I'm wanting specific modding stuff, I use overclockers.co.uk. Also
pick up some good deals from their 'offer of the week' from time to
time. Bought my 9600 pro, then my 9800 pro from there. The 9600 pro was
on offer, then the 9800 pro was unbelievably cheap.

I've just used dabs, and they were brilliant. Not an easy site to use
but quick service and only ?3 on delivery - not bad for a graphics
card. Novatech are also efficient with brilliant order-tracking.
Another port of call is http://www.planetmicro.co.uk.
They've supplied my pc case and other bits and pieces and were very
efficient. I used e-buyer once, and although the products were good
quality and all and at a decent price, they really get you on postage
and packaging. ?17 for delivery on 2 fan grills, some thumbscrews, and
a screwdriver - not good enough when it didn't arrive on time and I had
to spend ages chasing my order up because I wasn't there when they did
eventually deliver it. Dabs - definitely.

I've used overclockers, dabs, stak trading (don't know url), and pcmemoryupgrade. Overclockers charges too much for delivery, pcmemoryupgrade is is good but shipping from ireland takes longer. Dabs has a crap website

www.pricewatch.com has links to every online vendor you could ever want, but the reliability of some of these are probably dubious.

www.newegg.com has good stuff.

Pricewatch only lists US prices though, and the UK version sucks.

True, but as I said at the start, I thought I'd make this an international list for future reference for anybody, rather than just asking for my own uses

Dabs are pretty decent; though I bought a dodgy graphics card off them recently which may/may not have been their fault, they did give me a refund on everything including postage, which was nice. Very reliable shopping, I'd say.

Well I decided to go with Novatech and Overclockers for various bits each, now lets see who gets the delivery here first...

Overclockers should be next day if you ordered before 2pm (I think it's 2pm, not sure).

It was more like 4pm, but as Novatech don't have a couple of bits in stock (they are overdue though, expected tomorrow) and so wont arrive til at least after the weekend, I'm in no rush.
