I'm getting the infamous "Unable to open sound/C for transfer error"

I've made sure the file is the right format, 8bit, mono, unsigned, 11025Hz, its under 3 min. In the "message" field in the entity properties I have

mapsounds/duke.wav

Is that not the correct path? I have a sound for a different map with the path misc/refugee.wav and it works fine.

I tried entering mapsounds/panzerlied.wav and 30cal.wav and even ambience/b17.wav and none of them will work.

I've tried dropping the .wav and adding it again and still nothing. It's as if none of my sounds will work. I suspect I must be typing it in wrong or something if default DoD sounds will not work.

Please help me before I bash my computer. :grenade:

Try it with a ambient_generic and see if you can play it that way. if so, maybe you should just think about targeting one of those instead of useing the "message" field on whatever other ent you are using.

//Edit

I should think the path should be "sound/ambience/soundname.wave"

well I gound the problem (I always find the problem right after I post, and I only post after I cant find the solution to the problem), turns out I had 2 other sounds that were in my map using different entities and therefore I forgot about them. I checked them out, and sure enough they had bad filenames. I found out after I took the two ambient_generic out of my map and it still said it couldnt open sound/c for transfer.
