I'm using Nem's BC v3.0.0 with Hammer 3.5 with Steam according to Nem and Crono's instructions.

I export the .map, open it with BC and "run" it but when the compile
finishes and it loads Half-Life, it says "fatal error: could not open
steamapp.wad" however in the my WAD's list, steamapp obviously isn't
there.

Is the WAD path too long or something, and it's getting cut off?

Why is Steam/Hammer such a fag sometimes? (don't answer that one :sailor: )

Post your compile log -- let's have a quick glance through that first

A LEAK is a hole in the map, where the inside of it is exposed to the

outside. Unless this entity is accidentally on the outside of the map, it

probably should not be deleted. Some complex rotating objects entities need

their origins outside the map. To deal with these, just enclose the origin

Hmm... try finding and fixing the leak and removing some of the wads you aren't using... that might work

Also, scale down the textures: "{SNORKIETREE1" and "{SNORKIETREE3" to at most 256x256

Fix the leak as well. As for your missing wad file: You may have too many wad files included. I'm not quite sure how Hammer or Nem's Batch Compiler deals with overly long strings.

It would appear that one or many of your wads paths are being cut off at the "steamapps" directory part. Which one, I have no idea, since none of your paths have spaces.

Try either A) Combining wads to not use as many and/or B) with your wad paths use double quotes around the path.

Otherwise this is a fairly odd problem. Also, does it say "steamapps.wad" is missing or does it say "SteamApps.wad" is missing? (yes, there is a difference, if it is the second then the path is being abstructed [most likely])

personally, hammer starts throwing fits at me if I have more than 5 wads loaded into it at any time

If you really need all those extra wad's for your textures, merge them
together in one wad with Wally or something ... much easier

The new Batch Compiler drops the wads that aren't being used at all doesn't it? It said it did, or something.

it's not dropping wads if they're all still being used, and it says in the log that they are, even though no textures are being lifted from most of them.

the fact that they're getting referanced in the compile, means that anyone who plays the map would need to have all of the wads too. and have them in the same places that you have them.

there is a way to have lots of wads loaded, and have hammer only use the ones you want it to, but i dont remember how. something to do with turning smart edit off, and adding an env_wad entity or something. when i read about it, it seemed interesting, but i had no use for it. i do now, so maybe i should have paid more attention. :/

In the newest version of BC there's an option under CSG called WAD
Auto-Detect that actually does exactly that, removes all wads from the
bsp that aren't being used. Also al the WADS listed there are standard
for the mod.

I still haven't figured out why it needs "steamapp.wad"

Skyboxed the map, and it still leaks from a model?

Deleting the models in the map and compiling leads to the BG steam
menu, without a compile log being displaye or the ms dos prompt window
dealie, that all disappears.

Wutfux?

Also I took out all the wad but one, made a little box and compiled,
same error as above, no prompt, no compile log, no game, just the game
menu,
