Hello, I was formely known as TealSlut until i lost my password and changed my e-mail many times!
Anyway i've got back into mapping, again!
I was just wondering if when Half-Life 2 comes out people will stop mapping for Half-Life. My computer wouldn't run HL2 and i won't be upgrading for a while. Please tell me!

As far as I am aware, Half-Life is already old (5 years to be exact).
Although as to stop mapping for it? Well there will be people who will
play HL for a considerable length of time before using HL2 alot more,
mainly due to the fact HL1 will still have their most popular,
favourite and most played modifications.
I think the Half-Life mapping community will be stronger than the
Half-Life 2 mapping community for atleast a year if not 2, because of the
amount of effort and adaptation that will be needed for Half-Life 2 maps. There is also the unpredictable amount of time
until the SDK and 'proper' modifications are released.
Aswell as the unpredictable amount of time until Half-Life 2 is
released, although my own conclusion is Feb '05 is when we could be
seeing Half-Life 2. Yet that is only my opinion, I know many others
will believe it to be Winter holiday release, which is what I'd love to
see too.

There are still people who map for Doom 1. So, Yes, people will still map for HL.
We've had this discussion before, I think.

I never asked how to set vhe b4. It just never worked! But ive repreped my computer and it works fine
Oh today i was mapping and it said - MAX_LEAF_FACES. I couldn't run rad, or vis. And HL just crashed. Whats wrong! This only happened once id put a pipe in. So this is not hammer c**king up again (!wouldn't suprise me!) cos it only has a problem compiling this particular map.

You are in just about the same situation as me and my brother. We thought we could get a PS2 to play it on buts there's a rumour going round that it's not coming out on PS2......

Its not a rumour, it just isn't. Its due for release on the PC and
Xbox, but its unlikely to appear on the Xbox for quite a while as
little has been mentioned about it in a long time.

People still map for Wolfenstein3D! Can't imagine why people wouldn't do the same with half-life.
