Hey all. I have been running around a few of the contest entries and I am very impressed. This caliber of maps has been thin of late. I am therefor re-offering to use my server as a host to preview these maps if you should so desire. I will make a snarkpit friendly password and a custom motd with updates . Lemme know what you decide. It would be my pleasure.

Why passworded? The more players the better, as I'm sure DocRock would agree.

i would consider playing myself if..
1) it was open to the public..
2) downloads were turned OFF, with a suitable link to the maps..
3) if i were allowed to play
juim, your offer is a noble contribution..

Yah all that is good. No password, no downloads, and a huge finger pointing to maps in motd. I would also post them(the maps) at the diner should the authors have no problems with it.

Is your server Steam only, or do you have a steam and a WON server?

[edit] hmm seems doc posted my question while i was typing.. still i am interested in knowing..
i hesitate but have to ask, do we have to have steam installed to frag now online?
i have as yet, not done so, its downloaded, but waiting for me to make copies of all vital info (wads and such)
if i have to install steam, i may decide to not show.. unless its like Saturday night, then i will have had time.. but today is already ear marked for other tasks, i will not have time..
/me hopes playing is not dependant on steam, yet...

I hope its a WON server as I doubt i'll update to Steam unless its on a magazine cover CD some time soon. A file that size would take me at least a week to d/l

Alas, but I have converted to steam. It's inevitable that all will have to sooner or later. I can't even play on won servers anymore as steam converted and overwrote all my Sierra directory listings. I realise this may cost me tha ball game.
On a more positive note, steam is quite stable lately so since your gonna have to why not go ahead and get it now?. I suppose I could keep a copy of Sierra based half life on my second hd, but what a chore!!!

If you guys want to run something that would be great, I can put something up on the front page... I'm really busy revising for a big exam next week (oh what a time to end a map competition!) so don't really have the time to do much more :/

I installed Steam, and can still use WON as well. I figured out how to get it to be able to use both.

If you have the HD space, steam lets you choose to keep your original HL installation...
