Quite the beauty of an MP3 player. Cost me 140$ tax included, which is a decent price for a 128mb MP3 player. However this one is very slick. Its virtually the same size as a zippo lighter. Has a Lithium-Ion battery so I dont have to go through dollars worth of AAA batteries, cool blue backlight display. ID3 tags obviously but I could care less as my ID3 tags on my songs are all FUBAR'd. Its stranger than conventional players but meh, press and hold the power button to turn on, press and hold the power button to turn off (like a computer), has a hard power button (like the power switch on your PSU) USB cable, but I wish there was no cable, just a connector, as I dread cables. It has integrated voice recording which, after some tests, prooved to be rather good. And a FM radio. (spells listening to Russia radio at 1am  )

To change the volume, you have to press the menu button and select volume control and then use the + and - keys to change the volume. Kinda a drawback but oh well. Can also be used as file storage and you have some software too. well, not really software, just drivers. MP3 and WMA compatible and no DRM which is a plus since 99.9% of my songs come from P2P apps  Or as Jon would call them, "taboo downloads"

The front panel is grey, and not white like in the picture, and it has a mirror finish. Im keeping the protective pastic on it for as long as I can. The rest of the cassing is a nice royal blue metal which is nice too. And its really light. And small. Im almost scared to loose it.

And I see it's playing that bizarre song that comes with Windows.

Being a seasoned MP3 expert, I shall now call you a fool for buying a 128mb player- if you couldn't afford a HD player with 20+Gb on it, then minidiscs are cheaper and easy to copy between MP3 and disc

they may have better, but i am sure content with mine.. i am sorta glad i went with the cd versions.. i can put 700 megs of info on each and when you figure 20 hours of listening to a audio book is roughly 300 to 400 megs, i couldn't imagine 20gigs..

anywho's, i recommend the cd versions to anyone not wanting to be dependant on a pc to cleans the player..

The problem with minidisc is that you have to convert all your files to atrac during transfer, and this means worse quality.

Don't claim that any one solution has no downsides

Well, this little MP3 player is the perfect player for me. The size is just right as it fits neatly in one of my pockets. 128mbs is more than enough for me as I tend to listen to only about 5 to 10 songs and keep them on repeat. Sometimes I just have the same song on repeat for hours 8-) It practivally weighs nothing too which is nice.

But my absolute favorite feature is the Li-Ion battery.

I've got an LG 128mb one, its fine for my purposes, I only listen to it on the bus to/from school every day, meaning I can change the music over often.

I've got a Creative MuVo TX 256mb, which I'm reasonably happy with. It
had a horrible problem that it crashed and wouldn't work no matter what
I tried, but after sending it off to get repaired (had only had it a
week or two) it seems fine. Decent sound quality (once I made a custom
EQ - the defaults were rubbish), good provided earphones, and I can fit
on plenty of tracks for what I use it for. Its also utterly tiny, so
its perfect for using when snowboarding or ice skating which was one of
the biggest necessities for me.

A minidsic player plays minidiscs that hold music in atrac format only. A discman plays CDs or CD-Rs.

I actually prefer not to have a li-ion battery, as it means once it has ran out, you can't use your player until it has recharged. If you use NiMH AAA batteries, you can carry more around with you. Also, once a built in battery decides to give up, you have to buy a new player.

I also got a 256 meg player, and I'm overall pleased with it. They added new firmware to allow proper folder navigation, which was nice. I did buy it 9 months ago though, when it was ?130. I would never buy it now, since microdrive based players can be had for not much over ?150 (they were at the very least ?200 when I got mine).

Also I would never buy a player that doesn't just show up as a mass storage device that you can use like a normal drive in 'my computer'.

I have a minidisk player and I think it sounds just as good as when I'm playing the mp3s on my pc I also preffer it to the micro drive players cos it was cheaper for one and I can just keep buying minidisks for it if need be where as if I fill up the microdrive and want some more songs on then I would have to get another one. But thats not very likey cos I changs the songs on the disks every few months or so.

I'm happy with my 60gb Creative Zen NX Xtra. Thanks to its huge capacity, I can keep all of my songs in high bitrate

i know i showed it to you already, yeah mine is sorta like a discman, but it decodes MP3 formats.. cost a tiny bit more for the decoder part, but i love it..

i carry a small spindle of disks with my audio books on them.. and 4 changes of rechargeable AA batteries.
