I found this thread at the STEAM forums this morning and just had to let you see it.

I am constantly confounded by these guys and their inabillity to recognize warez programs as theft.

Valve also released a dummy cd crack and if I read it correctly, have used it to terminate close to 20,000 accounts so far.

Lol, that'll teach em' to spend the money on the actuall game next time. How hard is it to just buy either the HL platinum pack for $30 or HL2 for $50. It's a heck of a lot less troubling than having an account disabled.

i buy all the games i want, i borrow all i could care less if they go missing for some reason.

i have no regrets about buying HL2, but i also have a certain objection to stealing credit card numbers and whatnot.

perhaps some may see it as the same animal me borrowing and people stealing credit card numbers, but as long as i don't, i sleep well.

bottomline though, if you are gonna steal a card, and cry to valve, you deserve any retribution that befalls upon you.

It is true though, I hate kids these days... . It's not just online either, a few years ago they wouldn't dare talk crap to anyone older than themselves. Still it's pretty amusing when they try to act all hard in front of their mates :razz:

Oh, how ever so true. I remember back in my high school days, even as a senior, I had the goddamn 7th graders talking crap to me, only when there was a lot of 'em around, naturally. Bastards. Then one of my big wrestler friends said they talked crap to him, which was a really bad move on their part cue strangulation

Most due to individuals who're, in all senses of the word, morons.

It's also incredibly annoying to read this, ?plz hlp. I hve teh problam.? and find that the person gets mad if no one helps them.

god some people are so dumb, credit card fraud 19 times! thats just pure dumb!

What's even dumber is to commit credit card fraud over such a paltry sum. Seriously, if you go through all the trouble to steal other people's cards at least use them for more than buying HL2 over Steam :rolleyes: . That $50 is so hard to swing these days.

I missed the part where it specifically stated that only Hl2 was purchased with the stolen credit cards. :wink:

Really why are valve crackin down on people who used a no CD crack? Dumbest anti-piracy tactic ever. Most people who use the no-cd crack are people who bought the game legit and just don't want to have to search around for the CD every time they want to play. The irony is that the real pirates - those who downloaded the cracked game and didn't pay at all - are just fine without the CD inserted since the cracked versions supposedly don't connect to steam at all.

Plus if you bought the game over steam you don't even need to have the CD inserted in the first place, so why are the rules different for people who bought it at the store? Hell, you could even install HL2 with the CD, activate it, then uninstall it and re-install it from steam and bypass the CD key protection.

This isn't a no-cd crack, this is a shared ck-key. I doubt Valve are
obthered by a no-cd crack when their anti-piracy systems come through
Steam anyway.

Like Kage said, the bannings weren't because of no-CD cracks. I agree that it's a pain in the ass having to put the CD in to play, but that was Vivendi's decision, not Valve's.
