1)Do you have a leak in your map? If you do fix it and it will most likely go away.

2)Try changing the resolution, see if it goes away then.

ARE you sure you didnt see ****leaked**** in the compile log, because this is common Leak induced error.

If thats not the case what graphics card are you running? Because I
remember that HL1's sky had problems with certain graphics cards. A
update fixed this though.

You coude try moveing your sky box above your map or to the side.

Plus dont have it share a wall with your map its best not to.

Do you mean vis? yes vis should take a long time if you have a
complicated map. Maybe you have another leak, try just running bsp, and
see if there is a leak still hanging around.

the main slowdown in vis is the optimization stage (portal flow).
But you only need that for a final build, otherwise you can add -fast
as a parameter to vis to speed things up greatly.

By "sealing" your map, you don't, by any chance, mean that you made a box surround all or parts of it, right?

yes i didnt put a box surronding the whole map. but i fixed it thanks to omegaslayers' tutorial. wow sounds like a commercial. well anyway it was a leak, a microscopic leak.
