<TD class=newscontent>First off, merry new year and let's keep our resolutions 50% effective.

Now back on topic, the good folks over at compLexity are having a mapping contest where the top reward is $1,000 and I'm pretty sure most of you mapping geeks are quite happy about this. But there's a teenee weenee catch, it has to be for the source engine, meaning the map has to be for CS:SOURCE only! A direct quote from the site:
" The Syndicate has a new contest! We are looking for the BEST CS:Source map we can find. The name: "de_compLexity." Make us the best compLexity CS:S map, and you win $1,000.00. Regular map, aim_map, etc, you decide!

The contest goes through February 15, 2005. At that time we will announce how the winner is chosen. It may be via the website, or via our players. Either way, all serious maps will be placed on a coL Pub for all to enjoy. "
So what the hell are you talented mapper heads waiting for? Get to work! For many will enter but only one shall rise to the top as the winner and claim.. yada yada yada.. you get the point.</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE> That was copy and pasted, go here, is were i got it from.

http://toons.cscentral.com/

Good luck.

Sounds like a bit of a scam. Doesn't matter though, people map for fun
or to test their skills against other mappers. The bit at the top
doesn't make sense though:
But there's a teenee weenee catch, it has to be for the source engine, meaning the map has to be for CS:SOURCE only!
He says has to be for the source engine, meaning CS: Source? CS: Source isn't the only game to use the Source engine...

It's a CS clan, I think he means it can't be for regular CS. He probably doesn't care too much about non-CS gameplay modes.

He means not CS original, and more specific, CS:S. Not HL, or HL:Deathmatch

I would suspect that VALVe are looking to hire or at least meet the
winner of the mapping contest. It's a good way of finding quality level
designers for Half-Life 3 or TF2. They aint gonna be pleased if you
turn up and you can't even go for a drink at the local.

And even if your dad did show up and impersonate you, I think they
would find out the ruse when your dad studders after Newell says 'How
do you think the Source engine is at handling profuse amounts of data
and all the texture allocations?'.

Answer: Uh. Yeah. drinks his beer

lmao -- true that. In America you can die for your country at 18 (a bad thing...) but can't have a shot of whiskey to ease the pain unless you're at least 21, funny shizz.
