I like your sig

Um, in HL1 what I always did was to use a series of closely spaced small-scale sprites. It tended to work pretty well.

I would try using a texture from the lights.rad file. If thats not enough maybe a light_spot or light dynamic would work?

make a tube-shaped brush that looks good as a flourescent bulb. then turn it into a func_wall. then set it to glow with whatever brightness suits you. Also, I believe that you can trigger this like a real light bulb. and it will glow and then turn off. It won't put out that much light so you'll need to make a light ent really close to the bulb so light shines off of it and looks real. PM me if you want a prefab so u can see how to do it.

I think your looking for a Glow sprite that isn't the normal point omni glow.

just make a env_sprite and under sprite path, hit browes and just check
out the diffrent sprite files, you'll find it there. I'll take a
look and find a name if I can.

Those are simply models... Wich look like they are turned on. They give
a white glow all the time. But they don't emit any light. A spotlight
might help there.

You can find the model in models/props/cs_office/Light_ceiling.mdl.

I hope this is what you're looking for.
