He's pretty average actually. I don't know how many times I've seen the unclean photoshop pictures (Sijun, Jdillon, toomcity, Anry to name a few)

Sparth's work is anything but unclean or average. I love his style as well. I guess the French aren't so bad after all!

Are you f**king kidding me? Sparth is an amazing artist - take it from somebody who IS average, and has spent alot of time trying not to be. Sparth has a loose style - don't mistake that for sloppiness.
But...if you want to see my alltime favorite, check Craig Mullins out.

Let's take a moment to stop misunderstanding what I said:
by Average, I mean his style. His style is nowhere near unique. I even listen artsts that are very simliar to him.
Unclean isn't a bad thing, nothing like sloppy (which I didn't say).

heh, I get defensive when it comes to my favorite artists.
Yes, the rough low-detail style is done by many people. It's almost some digital impressionist movement that grows from tools themself. Digital is great for high-detail, high-res; but it's just as great for quick speedpainting, capturing the bare essence of a scene - quick studies in color, contrast, composition, value. Anyone seriously building there skills in digital (or classical), should be working with these type of rough studies.
That said, Sparth has taken this common approach and created a body of work that is representative of his own imaginitie style. I could probably look at a wall of pictures, and identify a 'sparth' image. In this sense, I think he has succeeded in capturing a unique stlye. Of course, if its not appealing to you, that's another story.

I love this guys work and style. He is now one of my favorite artists of all time. His imagination is amazing. Also his style is loose, not at all sloppy. Sloppy is a bad thing.

you dont have to be good at reporducing life to be a good artist, even
if an artist uses an over done style and poor technique he can still be
a great artist becuase of his subject and message.
I dont have any feelings for this artist, his art is nice but dosn't
stun me or really impress me much more than other people. I'm a
hard man to impress tho.

A bit more definition wouldn't kill the guy.

A bit more structure wouldn't have killed Picaso either.

This type of concept art isn't about detail, i'ts about style, mood, color palette, texture. I like it for it's looseness, same way I like Mullins. I'm sure Sparth could do high detail if he chose (now you've inspired me dig around his site, in hopes of backing up that claim).

I personally dislike Picassos works... I like to see things pictured in a realistic manner no matter what the thing itself is.

I used to dislike Picasso, but after seeing his journal, you realise that he \
1. can draw real people correctly
and
2. has a process for where he ends up, it's not just random placement of body parts
There really is a creative process that occurs in his work, so now I can actually appreciate his art more.
