I like how their website makes absolutely no reference to being a mod for half life 2.
But now that I know I'm going to test it out.

I played it for an hour 2 days ago and it was quite fun. The thing I didn't like was the rocket launcher, the bump mapping on the guns looked really bad and the map called light was poorly done.
Apart from that it seems to be the first real mod.

Well, keeping in mind that it is a beta, I think it rocks. Once they release more than one map, and fix some minor bugs and hopefully change the gun animations, this is going to be a pwnage mod.

Gah, bit annoying that its essentially a CS clone, kinda takes away
from it being "the first". Not saying some of their ideas don't have
merit, but its just so clearly derived from CS (round based gameplay,
weapon purchasing, pistol rounds), like somebody got fed up with it an
decided to build their own.

Yeah, there are definitely similarities. But, since I haven't had
a chance to play this, how did they execute the new
ideas/features? Multiple objectives? Progressive rounds?
Stat tracking across all servers?
Oh, and is this really a thinking man's game like they advertise on the site?

Although I have heard the "This mod must suck if it is in anyway related to CS:S" comments on other forums, I must say the similarities are few.
Definitely a lot of the mod was inspired by CS but it is much better, imo. It really pushes teamplay, whereas CS is a one-man game. In POA, if you go in on your own, you're f**ked. I think the way the objectives were done (multiple, and you have to hold them) is much better than bomb/hostage.
I think if the models and animations were tidied up a bit, this mod would definitely kick CS:S' ass any day... even thursday.

I like the idea of the mod, and its pretty fun. In terms of
gameplay, its a pretty interesting idea. The only problem is that
the first objectives you go for you get too easily, since the other
team is spread out to guard all the objectives. And once you
reach it, the objectives are easy to hold, so its too back and
forth. Its good enough that I'd play it again when they get more
maps and fix the many bugs.

If they use HL2 textures and props, it's not a total conversion.

Looks interesting, 1hr to download...
edit: OK, I've got it and I've played it a bit. Its not bad, but its not great. I didnt like the fact you have to wait so long for the buy menu to load... the buy menu isnt very intuitive either IMO. The one map has a few bugs, but the game itself seems fairly stable. As it gets more polished, and more maps, itll probably turn out well.

It defitnately has teamplay in it which is what I like about games but a lot of people just go off and die and laugh and don't take it seriously which can get annoying.

It looks like someone took CS and DoD, took the parts they liked from each, and then mixed it together and called it a mod
