Ok, at first when I started making my map, I used only light_spots for
lighting. I compiled and played my unfinished map many times without
any point_spotlights, and everything was lit up fine. But today I
decided to add point_spotlights under each light. When I did this, it
was as if all of my light_spots disappeared when I compiled the map.
Everything was dark, and only the point_spotlights were showing instead
of the spotlights AND the light_spots together.

I should think the fact it keeps bouncing (-1,-1,-1) is a problem... thats seriously screwed up :/

OK first, we already had this discussion. the amount of bounces is not an issue. i was informed that the default bounce setting is 100 times. :eek:

secondly, i can detect no error in the compile log, so that leads me to believe that you may have failed to set the lights properties maybe?

i dunno how HL2 reacts, but in HL1 if you fail to give light a value, it fails to add any light at all..

something tells me that you made one light, then copy/pasted the rest from it without testing it first to see if it was functional

it also says that you only had one text light, and HL1 refuses to consider textured light as a source and made its maps all dark if they were the only sources of light :sad:

assuming i am not a complete idiot.. i would advise you to make a tiny test map. one that will compile in a couple second and work through this light issue. when its working copy the result into your map.

When you use spotlights, you should also remember to disable the 'dynamic lighting' flag...

find your light, and copy the 4 numbers from your 'light color' box (i.e. 234 234 234 200)

I can't say there was an obvious difference. Seriously though, every
setting for the old and new light_spot and point_spotlight were the
same.
