Hey, first post here
Pimping around a bit

Ive just released my newest texture pack for both HL2 as for the UT games.
HourPitores is a semi realistic Tech-Industrial themed pack of about 80 1024 resolution textures and is available in a JPG gallery, a UT1 UTX, a UT2004 UTX and a Half Life 2 VTF directory. In the compiled game versions of Pitores all shaders have been set. Footstep sounds have been added and correct compression has been used as well as other misc settings

The pack is mainly made up out of dark red, yellowish gray and some yellow lines but also features some blue variants of some textures so I hope it'll work well for example CTF or other teambased gametypes. The colors are subtle on purpose and the bright yellow gray is there to make sure the textures light better. The brighter a surface the easier it will be to light (brightness and shadow wise). The less saturated the textures the easier they will be to color by lighting. Too saturated colors would also be too flashy and not stylish enough

The pack is free for all non commercial mod and level use as long as you credit me somewhere. Im also always interested in seeing what people made with it so feel free to email me and show me

Along with the map three UT1 example maps have been created showing off these textures as well as textures from my previously released HourIndusX texture pack.

you may not get many hits, but every little bit counts. Try posting these at Ribbed.

Even if it only gets you one or two, word will spread.

Good luck and welcome to Snarkpit.

The best things in life, aren't things.

Welcome to the Pit man, and I'm reallly happy to see these
textures. I wish more people would come to the site and pimp
their work instead of me having to go out and look for them

I'll download your textures when I'm about to start a map for Fortress
Forever, as they seem to match the theme I have in mind
perfectly. I'll let you know what I think then.

You might want to go pimp these at the Fortress Forever forum as well
-- since there are a lot of mappers just craving for a red / blue base
texture set. The mapping forum is

Hey man, good to see you posting here. Really good news to see some
custom content for source - this is, sadly, about the first proper
texture pack I've seen. Hows the UT mapping scene for custom content?

Thanks for the links, pimped it a around a bit more on those

Cant believe I forgot the wadfather

In the UT1 community it used to be pretty decent, same like HL1 community I think content wise but since the new engine (ut2003/4 generation) theres not a lot of downloadable custom stuff around anymore either

We do have a lot more user made maps that use custom stuff tho. A lot of people are currently making maps with own meshes and textures. That used to be different, when the games were just released 99 percent of the custom maps were made with textures from the game and prefabs but by now people are starting to understand they need to make custom stuff if they want to get noticed or make something cool and unique

Took them well over a year tho

Well thats reassuring at least - I hope the HL2 community develops in a
similar way. I guess people are putting up with standard content for
the time being, but given time I think everybody is gonna want
something a bit different. I'm banking my hopes on this years contest
to bring out a bit of originality in the source engine
